Just so happens the USPS brown box that my #4's come in is perfect for an item I want to sell.
Is it ok to ship the item in it? Wanna ship priority with USPS, of course having to slap a priority label and the tape on it.
I know we can't turn priority boxes inside out, stuff like that, but what about just reusing the brown boxes they ship stuff to us in ?

Yes, you can reuse any brown box for shipping if it is sturdy and all labels have been removed or marked out. I do it all the time.

Of course you can re-use the plain brown box. Consider it to be a bonus box, which doesn't even have to be used for Priority Mail! Our Priority Mail supplies come shrink-wrapped nowadays; I haven't gotten a box o'boxes in years.

Yes, you can. Just remove the old label and you're good to go. If you ever run out, you can order them at USPS.com, but you need to create an account. Keep in mind each box has different shipping rates.

ok, thanks guys. Dunno why after all these years I was thinking we weren't supposed to reuse them.
Got some # 7's last year or year before, those were shipped to me in brown boxes, not shrink wrapped. Chunked those .
For many years I've been chunking the USPS brown ones but saving every other darn one that comes my way... OMG the boxes in my packing room ! lol
Never again.... " IF" I get lucky enough to get any more, sure could use one of those # 7' brownies now .Funny how one can have literally hundreds of boxe but never the right size when needed.

Yes, those #7 boxes are great. I've used tons of those, and am so thankful to still receive them when I order priority boxes.

Been there, done that. A garage piled high with empty boxes, but not one in the size that I need at the moment.

That is the story of my life

Sometimes I just get the priority boxes and cover them in brown paper if I need to with the 10 cent paper bags from the grocery store.

If the post office clerks suspect that is what you did, and tears the paper off, the package can arrive postage due to your buyer (or most likely your Paypal account will be charged if you printed the label using ebay or Paypal).

That's bad advice for two reasons. For one, it is not advisable to cover boxes with paper due to the likelihood it can tear off and the label will be lost. It is also against USPS rules to misuse free Priority supplies for other shipping methods.
