Come on ebay, for Pete's sake. Once an item is verified that it was scanned by the post office or ups or fedx
if it gets lost in the post. Stop blaming the seller, and making them refund the buyer. They are not the ones who lost it. I can see blaming the seller if it is damaged to an extent, but never, never for lost item. They did not lose it. NO other platform that I sell on does that. You are a huge company and surely if these newby companies can figure out the seller did not lose it, you could figure it out too.

Someone HAS to refund the buyer.
Consumer protection laws say so. Unless you have a volunteer to refund, you can buy insurance. The major carriers do not lose enough shipments to make it good business for a seller to buy insurance for every shipment.

Works like this: Buyer pays seller for goods & services. Seller ships goods & services via carrier. Carrier delivers goods & services to buyer.
Until the goods are in the hands of the buyer, the purchase & shipping of the goods are soley the responsibility of the seller. If the carrier becomes an issue, only the seller can file a claim with the carrier. The seller must make the buyer whole first & then pursue the defined process with the carrier.
Don't like it? Don't sell anything.

The seller might not have lost the item, but you are responsible for getting the item to the buyer.
Who do you think should refund the buyer?

Seller with nearly 10k items sold just figuring out they're responsible for a lost shipment by their carrier?
Should be able to recoup $100 if the shipment never catches a delivered scan and was sent USPS.

So you are saying that a transaction occurs between the seller and the shipper, and another transaction between the shipper and the buyer? You do realize that the seller is the only one able to make a claim against the shipper for non-delivery, right? So you want all the benefit and none of the headache, is that it? Good luck in life, princess.

On those other platforms it's likely the shipping label is provided by the platform therefore they can file the carrier claim for a lost package. On eBay you purchase the label therefore you are the one that can file the claim for a lost package.
At quick glance, your items all appear to be set up with tracked shipping services that include up to $100 insurance coverage for lost packages. Refund the buyer and file the claim with the carrier. Aside from a little time to file the claim you shouldn't be losing anything.
