assistance needed re: int'l shipping

Untitledb.jpgUsually for an eIS listing, I can see the countries I *will* ship to by selecting the 'SELECT' box as shown in my image. I can see my custom exclusions listed just fine - but the *SHIPS TO* is blank , only US is listed.

Am I missing something or does it show *to others in those countries* but because I am in the US I can't see it. My Shipping policy for this item has the individual exclusions boxes ticked and the countries I DO want to ship unchecked (Europe, Canada, UK, etc)

The bookends are being blocked from EIS @stuffygrotto because they're priced at $1,100.00

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

I'm sorry why don't you want to ship to certain countries ?

I'm trying to learn here.

But with the new EIS program, it's literally risk free to ship to any country as long as it's received at the US shipping hub.

For checking your listing have you tried going to the foreign ebay domains and seeing if your listing shows up?

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

So this is the message (in red) if I selected my country as UK in another listing and then go to this listing's

shipping display to see the cost to the UK.

quote: "The Seller has not specified a shipping method to the UK. Contact the seller ...bla bla...

It is my understanding that we DO NOT have to specify the method/service for  INT'L shipping and that eBay does that for us.

Is this a glitch or did I do something wrong? Do I have to specify shipping services to the countries I want to ship to???? It isn't like that on other listings I set up, so why now, for this particular listing?

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

I have my reasons.  Ebay states they will respect my exclusions. Frankly, I do not put all my trust in the blanket statement that it is risk free to ship to any country in the world (besides the ones that eBay themselves exclude by default).

Anyway, I want to stay on topic and not waver into that particular issue. But thanks for your views.

Wonder why UK is getting that message. Do we have any UK sellers in here?

@stuffygrotto

The Bookends listing seems to be the one with the issue, according to the revision history you fiddled with the shipping a few times Thursday night so perhaps you turned off EIS for that listing.

All your other listings (except the local pickup one) seem fine (I checked for the UK and Canada).

Thanks so much for checking 🤕 -jimmy. Love that avatar!

Hmm I don't even know how to 'turn off' eIS. I did get carried away with the exclusions in the new shipping policy I made just for the bookends. It was kinda fun looking up some of those obscure (to me) locations lol.

I wonder wuzup.

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

Long Story: This was really never resolved - as to why this particular listing looks different (in the shipping tab ) than my other EIS listings. I had revised it so many times by eliminating exclusions, revising the shipping policy, and going into the listing to look for any type of keyword or weirdness that may be hindering it's availibility internationally...to no avail.

Then it gets really strange... I wake up on Saturday to discover some ghost in the machine @ eBay has generated  SEVERAL NEW shipping policies in my list and also CHANGED MY EXCLUSIONS. Sorry for the caps I just want that to stand out. And that ghost's intrusion really screwed up my other listings *that were just fine*. Seriously it's just strange and invasive and entirely ridiculous that was done. I had to spend another 2 hours undoing what 'it' did to get my other listing to display like they did before the invasion. Did someone at ebay think they were helping me by doing that?

So in the end, I came to believe the Bookend listing was just totally corrupted or something, I made an entirely new listing and scrapped the old one. Guess what ... the original issue remains.

I cannot understand why and apparently I am not allowed to know why. Ghost in the Machine for sure 👻

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

Your most expensive item excludes everywhere but the USA (bookends)

Your cheapest item shows both included and excluded destinations, and the dropdown menu also shows many countries (drapery bracket).

I am checking from Canada.

By the way, apparently you are willing to ship to Swaziland but not to the French Pacific colonies. Any reason why?

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

Thanks for the info. Oh My Gosh, you'd think ebay would make a nice big popup alert to let me know it doesn't qualify because of my limited EIS participation and the item is OVER $500.

What a waste of my time trying to figure this out.

I had actually suspected my listing problems could be because of that but could not find any dialog, warnings or other discussions on it.

Thanks again @wastingtime101 -- you certainly didn't waste my time !

Re: assistance needed re: int'l shipping

Thank you for checking!

To clarify, re: your comment on exclusions: In the end, as I tried to correct any possible discrepancies in the policies or listing itself - I didn't tick any shipping exclusions in my Bookend shipping - I used the same exact policy for all the other listings I currently have up. That is why I was so confused why all these places are excluded. See below answer from @wastingtime101
