I received the message about being enrolled in EIS this morning.  I selected to opt-out immediately.  Curious though how the enrollment appeared to have happened on eBay's side instantaneously, however, opting out needs to wait to be processed.

Other than xenophobia, what are the reasons to opt-out of eIS? They handle returns and you only need to ship to a US address. Is there some down-side I'm missing?

Yep, it even changed all my current listings.  I'm waiting to hear the downsides, too.  It also says they don't update my shipping policies in my account, so they still show exclusions.  This seems very confusing.  Madam Zelda foresees problems in my future, lol.

I rely heavily on combined shipping (discounts), so EIS is just not suitable for my items as it does not allow for combined shipping.

If I'm reading the policy correctly, we can still combine shipping within the United States.  It will only be the

international locations that cannot be combined, and the buyer has to pay the shipping, unless you offer 'free shipping'.  I like to keep things simple, and I still foresee problems with the exclusions list.  I don't understand that.

If you have "countries" excluded in your listing, then those countries will continue to be excluded when you are opted into EIS.

Nothing.  It is fear of the unknown.  I.lb this case. It just takes a few minutes of reading to know that the program rocks.

I have ~1200 listings. Perhaps 300 or 400 would I consider shipping thru EIS.  Lot of those listings have free shipping with inaccurate shipping measurements and weights. You have to have accurate shipping measurements and weights.

Also expensive items I would not be willing to have leave the USA. Many items go UPS Groud. Too risky on the shipping costs for EIS.

For now, no EIS here. Perhaps in the coming months.  My listings have to be parsed before considering EIS.

Will wait to find out about some of the gotchas before cautiously proceeding.

I read the below info to mean that your exclusion list will still apply when using EIS.  So, you would need to remove/deselect the destinations you WILL ship to from your exclusion list.

Been in EIS since January.  You just ship to the Illinois processing center and.... youre done.  They handle it from there.  Returns? Nope, you dont even get to see the details, ebay handles it.  INR case? Nope, ebay handles it.  I've had an INR from Australia and a remorse return from europe somewhere. I got to know they existed, but beyond that, nothing.  Nothing to do, and money stays where it is.  I look forward to international transactions now, cause all I have to do is get it to Illinois safely, then it's ebays problem lol.

IF the same buyer buys several items, you email them explain that you can ONLY combine the items (I am assuming all are small and can be combined into a box that is not oversized.) if you cancel ALL of the items that they won. You will rewrite a special private auction for them. You add the totals of the wins.  You figure out the shipping.  YOu then explain everything to the buyer and pray that they can understand English.  You will need to tell them the total of the combined wins and the new shipping for all of the items.  If they agree, then you cancel with BUYER REQUESTED (technically correct because they want to save money on shipping.)   You rewrite the ad  and take a few photos showing ALL of the items.

For me , it was an easy one to do.  The buyer was buying 4 HO scale cars.   He saved $14.97 alone on the domestic shipping.  (3 x $4.99 shipping.)   The 4 cars are very lightweight. It's a pain in the butt rewriting the listings but heck , sales are slow.

EIS works like this:

You, nor your buyer, can 'ask' to combine any shipping. Buyer would need to contact you to have you build a 'combo kit' (all 1 item number) for those items.

You, need to be sure when building that listing, you input the correct weight/dimensions as that buyer will be paying according to that.

Seller pays to ship ONLY to Illinois

Seller KEEPS all sales, so no 'refunds' (if buyer wants a refund, they get with EIS and EIS 'pays' the return, then EIS keeps the item (for resale). You, the Seller does NOT get the item back.

Fees are based on US total sale only (and NOT based on what the buyer pays for shipping).

There are weight/size and certain 'item' limitations (as well as $$ amount, now at $5k I believe).

Great idea!  The only consideration would be doing all of this and keep within my 1 day handling time.
