Did you mean:

Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

In my shipping preferences, I've added a flat shipping rule for combined payments. So under the Shipping tab, it shows:

Shipping and handling
$1.25 shipping for each additional eligible item you buy from packratville.

However, under the Shipping and handling tab for another seller, it shows this:

$1.00 shipping for each additional eligible item you buy from [id removed by op], when you use the cart to make your purchase.

So how does the "when you use the cart to make your purchase" portion get added? Does the difference have anything to do with that seller having a store and I no longer do? However, I don't remember it being there when I had a store, but it's been a while so I'm not sure.

Re: Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

@packratville

You made me go look at my own listings because I have a similar set up as you.  Listings that only have one item do not mention the cart, but my variation listings do mention the cart.  All of my listing are set up the same, so maybe it only mentions the cart when the listing has a quantity of more than one?   Things that make me say hmm...

Oh and I do have a store, but I do not think that makes a difference.

Re: Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

Thanks for taking the time to look and compare your listings. That sounds very plausible based on what you found. Yet I'm not sure that applies to the other seller's listings. It's one of those things that makes me say hmm too 🙂

I'm not familiar with setting up variations, but I checked the other listings and the same text about the cart appears with comics that I think would be only one of a kind since they are vintage and in acceptable condition. What I think are newer comics don't show any more available as far as having a quantity of more than one listed.

@packratville

I would like clarification on this.  Having the mention of adding items to the cart is monetarily beneficial to both buyers and sellers.

brian@ebay

Would you please clarify why some listings with set up combined payments and shipping discounts mention adding items to the cart and some listings do not.  Please see my screenshots from two of my listings in my previous post.  Thank YouSmiley Happy

Hi @mcdougle4248, I'm happy to look into this. Can you give me some item number that show the 'add to cart' verbiage and some that don't?

Thanks @mcdougle4248! I think what you stated earlier is correct. The extra wording only appears on your variation listings. I'm going to get more clarification on this to see if there is anything more to it, but from my investigation I agree with your assessment. I'll let you know when I have more info!

Re: Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

@mcdougle4248 Thanks for bringing this to brian.t@ebay's attention. I am curious too. It would be nice if the wording appeared in both cases and not just the variations if that's what it turns out to be. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like the additional wording would be appropriate in listings without variations too.

Yes, I agree with you 100%.  I think the wording "add to cart" should be in the shipping details for every listing when the seller has shipping discounts set up, regardless of the quantity of items in the listing.

Let's see what brian@ebay  finds out for us.  Maybe this could be a suggestion he could pass on to the appropriate team.

Re: Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

@packratville

Please check your listings with shipping discounts.  This issue was sent over to the tech team(s) for review.  This morning I did a random check of about 15 of my listings, including single quantity, multi quantity and variation listings, and all the listings now have the verbiage about using the cart to receive the shipping discounts.

Re: Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

@mcdougle4248 Thanks for the heads-up; unfortunately, the verbiage is still the same on four of my listings that I checked:

Shipping and handling
$1.25 shipping for each additional eligible item you buy from packratville.

Maybe it's a slow roll-out to all sellers?

Do you have your shipping preferences set up?

Re: Wording difference for cost of each additional item purchased under Shipping tab

@mcdougle4248

Thanks, yes, I do. Allow buyers to send one combined payment for all items purchased is selected, with the minimum time available of 3 days chosen.

The calculated shipping rule and Promotional shipping rule aren't specified since they don't apply to any of my listings. But I have seven different rules under the Flat shipping rule setting since, when I list more, there are different additional cost amounts for vhs recordings, books, records, magazines, etc. Maybe that's the problem...
