Wondering where my package is

Anyone have any guesses or insight on where a package I’m waiting for is.

The seller is from Canada and normally ships from NY state but with the border being closed she couldn’t so I agreed she can ship from Canada.  I live in MA. So distance wise we are not far.

She sent the package on May 1 and the last tracking information was saying that it was processed in Ottawa in May 3.  Canada post gave a delivery date of May 7.  eBay is giving an estimate delivery date of May 8 (today).  eBay and usps have not updated tracking since May 1 where it says label was created or something like that.  On the usps tracking it doesn’t even say that it was accepted into the US.  So where is my package??  Is it still struck in Ottawa? Is it in the US and just not being scanned?  Me and my kids have really been waiting for this package to arrive so it is very frustrating.  I understand there being delays because of covid-19, just don’t understand why the tracking hasn’t been updated in 5 days and I don’t even know if it is in the country or lost in Canada somewhere else right now.

It is likely backed up on one side or the other at customs (either customs is backed up, or the receiving of items from customs is backed up).

In these pandemic days, we all need to have a lot more patience because things may not operate as quickly as usual, or even as "quickly" as they might during high-volume shipping periods like around Christmas.  With the USPS, there are many workers out sick (or suspected of illness) and some facilities have had to temporarily close.  This means that delays and back-ups are much more common.

At congestion points, packages usually squeeze through within about a week or two.

yes the USA/CA border has been closed for weeks.

I ordered contact lenses that shipped from Canada and it took about a week to get them. I'm in North Jersey close to NY. If you go to the Canada post website it says:

"Customers may experience delays as important safety measures, including physical distancing, means it takes longer to process heavy parcel volumes"

Lots of mail has been delayed lately due to reduced staff and an increase in people ordering things online due to being stuck in the house & many retail stores being closed.

It is closed to people ... but, shipments are still passing through.

May 1 was a Friday and according to Canada Post it was processed in Ottawa on May 3 and is now in transit.  Apparently there are delays in Mississauga so if it had to go through there, it could be there now.  Today would be the 5th business day so I'm surprised that ebay gave it an eta for today as international parcels are unpredictable.  It would normally be in the US by now but unfortunately everything is moving  slower now and I agree, it is frustrating for both buyers and sellers.

Have patience & don't overly worry

You expect & want your package to be delivered to you soon.

But it's best not to waste time wondering where it may happen to be within the system, at some particular time , realizing it's not unusual that some packages only traveling a short distance may sometimes experience substantial delays, while packages that travel a long distance may be delivered, without a delay.

I have packages from Europe that have not arrived.    Some are over 60 days.

One from Eastern Europe took 77 days to get to me.

Expecting everything to be "Normal"  right now will lead to disappointment.   

I'm convinced that the bottleneck is New York customs.    Just my opinion, though.

Well to update, Canada post finally updated their tracking after a week.  So now instead of my package being in Ottawa it is in Montreal.  It moved a whole city away in a week 

At this rate it will be July until my package arrives in Massachusetts.

Im at least happy to finally have an answer for now of where my package is but am disappointed it still has not even entered the US yet.
