When is shipping excessive?

The seller charged me $24 for shipping (Priority Mail), yet the actual cost was $11. What type of feedback do I leave or just let it ride?

Let it ride.  You knew the shipping charge when you purchased the item.Leave whatever feedback you like.

@booksalot336

You agreed to the charges when you bought the item.

As long as I got my item at the price I agreed to, I'd be ok with it.

Have a great day.

How do you know the actual cost was $11.00?

There is more to the cost of shipping than just the postage.

The time to be concerned about the shipping / handling charges is before you commit to buy and pay as they are disclosed in advance.  At that time you had the opportunity to negotiate the shipping charge.

And old adage from my selling days goes something like this  "The price is right when a willing buyer is willing to pay"

"I have the right to remain silent but I didn't have the ability." Ron White, Fritch, Texas
"Stay away from negative people, they have a problem for every solution." A. Einstein
"The Devil made me do it!" - Flip Wilson

Let it ride.......You received exactly what the buyer offered, no more, no less.

Some sellers offer a low item price (even at a loss) and make it up in their shipping charges.

It's just business.

Like when your favorite clothing store doubles the price of an item and then gives a 50% discount. Wow!! Half price!! I had better buy two of them while they are on sale!!

If the had hit the price of shipping on the label you would have been fine with it.

Plus as a seller it is more than just shipping its paper, ink, gas, packaging, time....etc

You're missing the point. Excessive shipping charges shouldn't be part of the equation when making a purchase. Shipping charges should be fair. God help your buyers if this is your practice as a seller.

You have to look at the shipping cost when choosing an item. If it's too high, find another seller. With auctions, adjust your bid down. Not right to give poor feedback when you choose to make the purchase.

Most items that I list are with free shipping (shipping included)  The buyer always pays more for shipping than the amount I paid for the label.

If I list with buyer pays, and there was a large difference I would do a partial refund.  As some have posted a seller may be adding some of the total cost on the shipping side to make it look like a better item price.    Shop by total cost.

I agree. That's why, when shopping, I pass on the listings that have shipping charges that I think are excessive. I am pretty picky and know what is reasonable before I consider a purchase.

Your shipping prices are very reasonable and in line with actual costs.

So since it is actually Shipping and Handling, what do you consider a fair charge for handling? What is the seller is handicapped and has to hire someone to take their packages to the Post Office? I could be in that boat after Tuesday if I don't pass the tests to renew my driver's license ... I would have to hire someone to take my packages to the Post Office.

Would you rather there not be any Handling Charge option given to sellers and instead they add those costs to the price of the item?
