Ebay adds a second datamatrix barcode to the label that is exactly the same as the one inside the label. What is it's purpose? I've been cutting it off when i print my labels.

You could use a photo editor and swap it with a different QR code.

But why is it on there twice?

Mine don't have that.

This was asked on another forum. The response from someone at the USPS was as below.
It's a data matrix code containing text data:
RZT, WHERE
R - Routing Application Identifier (420 = Domestic Mail)
Z - Destination 9 digit zip code
T - Tracking Number

I've been deleting the VAT codes Ebay is inserting into the addresses without explanation. I don't feel the need to partner with European taxiation authorities.

You mean the codes that confirm a buyer has pre-paid the VAT through eBay and help packages get to the customer with ease?
The info is also sent electronically behind the scenes, but why would you actively delete it from the address field? Seems like the only thing you'd accomplish with that is a potential delay or problem for your buyer.

Actually you are HELPING the tax authorities. The code in the address tells the tax authority that the tax has been paid. Without that then the tax authority will collect it a SECOND time so you are fattening their wallet.
On the other hand, the buyer having already paid the tax may refuse the package so you get it back at the loss of both the sale and the postage.
WHY do you want to shoot YOURSELF in the foot. Put your politics aside and be a business man.

WHY????? What difference does it make to you. But if the P O requires it then you are causing yourself a problem.
WHY????

I use Pirate Ship for my labels, and they do not have the second QR code.

Leave it. I am thinking that is there to help the postal machines move the mail. If the first qr code is blocked by another package on top of it, the other one might still be visible. Don't cut off anything that is on the label. It serves a purpose. LEAVE it alone. To the person that takes of the VAT decal, be ready to refund your foreign buyer if they need to repay the tax. I personally, would refuse the package if I already paid the tax. I would do a chargeback immediately if I were that foreign buyer.

That's just crazy. Good luck with that.

Don't know if this is true for anyone else---
If I print my labels using 'bulk labels', all the labels have the two additional QR codes
If I print a label for one shipment, there is no additional QR codes on the label.
Noticed that today as I did shipping for one sale by itself.
