What is up with USPS?

I always had decent luck with USPS, that is, up until a few months ago. Now, it seems that about 60% of the packages I receive or ship get stuck somewhere. Right now I'm waiting on a package that should have been here a week ago. One of the worst ones was in August; I made a shipment to Wyoming with ground advantage. I was told it would be 4 days. It ended up taking 4 weeks. I've had many others, too, but this was the worst one. Their prices have become ridiculous, too. That package cost me $36.00 and weighed just 5 lbs. To make matters worse, they didn't even deliver it to the recipient; they "delivered" it to a lock box and the recipient had to go 18 miles to get it.

Times are hard, yes, but perhaps if they would crack down on all the counterfeit stamps being sold right here on ebay, then maybe their rates would be a little more reasonable.

Re: What is up with USPS?

I have been using USPS GA a lot more in the past 6 months with no issues at all.

Still using UPS for all the expensive products and the larger/heavier shipments.

Re: What is up with USPS?

They're just downright corrupt at the top. Louis DeJoy, the postmaster general, has made an effort to raise prices the last four years while also INTENTIONALLY slowing the service. USPS is the only entity I know that will raise prices by 200% while providing a service that is worse than at any other point in recent history. The problem is USPS is a federal government affiliate, and they cannot physically go out of business. Essentially, they cannot be held accountable. Expect more of this downward trend with them in the future.

When I see a package is taking the scenic route or isn’t moving, I open cases on the usps website ASAP. This typically seems to help at the very least bide some time as it will reflect in the tracking details.

Re: What is up with USPS?

USPS and Ebay have given out notices that the shipment time will be later. There are less employees working at the USPS nowadays. So it's definitely going to be slower. I haven't had an issue in some time where a package took 4 weeks to get to the buyer within the US. As far as rates USPS is actually very reasonable especially when you get a discount on Ebay labels via USPS retail. Cracking down on counterfeit stamps will not change prices. I really hate to break the news to you but prices will continue to climb. They will climb to the point where it will cost more to ship a small item than the item is worth. Right now I have $2-$5 items and it costs under $5 to ship. That price is better than say other carriers who want $9-$11 in shipping cost without a discount. So I would say if you feel prices to ship are ridiculous then sell locally.

I use USPS GA exclusively and I've had no issues either aside from one package that accidentally got tossed into the wrong bin and sent to the wrong state, but I've had that happen every so often before. A few years ago I had a package that was bound for CA take an accidental Hawaiian vacation before it finally got delivered.

The USPS can be held accountable, they answer to congress. But congress has generally not bothered to do anything about the mismanagement of the USPS, and don't even seem to care about the USPS in general.

Ditto.  USPS delivered a book across the country for me in just over 48 hours.  And shipping the book GA was cheaper than media mail.

Cannot beat that kind of service.

Re: What is up with USPS?

Yes bu the site won't let you open a ticket until the item is about 2 weeks overdue.

Right now I have an incoming package to me in Florida. It was sent from Texas to New York, where it sat for 5 days, then was sent back to Texas. Now it is in Minnesota.  I suppose they will get here one day.   😞   I guess the usps wants to make sure I get my money's worth in mileage.
