Warning from Ebay when I request a return and shipping fees

I really resent the fact that I get messages from ebay when I go to make a return saying, "you recently made a return for the same reason, this could affect your ability to make returns in the future."

If I buy something from a seller and it is not as described, or defective, I should have every right to return each and any items that I purchase, in these cases.

Like it's my fault the sellers aren't clear on their descriptions or do not know about the item they are selling?????????????????

It's horrible that sellers get preferential treatment, and can do no wrong.

I realize they are the group that butters the bread of ebay executives but come on people!!!  Let's be fair and honest.

The extra fees sellers add on to the cost of shipping is also ridiculous and in my opinion the buyer, THE PERSON THAT HAS TO PAY FOR SHIPPING, should be able to choose the method of shipping.  If I don't want to pay insurance for an item or priority shipping I shouldn't have to., with the understanding the $5 item is lost in the mail or damaged, I can't ask for a refund.  Is that so difficult to understand?

Many sellers ship because it is a convenience for them, who cares what it costs the buyer.

Clearly, I don't have to buy the item with the listed shipping costs, and why I typically will ask a seller if there are other options before I make a bid.  Many are willing to work with you, and others just flat out won't consider it.  Those are the sellers that lose my bids.

Ebay, there are many areas of improvement that should be made afterall, if it wasnt for the buyers, you would have no sellers!!!!

Re: Warning from Ebay when I request a return and shipping fees

You can thank fellow buyers that scam the system.  I am being robbed right now.  They buyer says that they did not recieve one of the three antique items that were packed together.  I am suspicious, but also feel customers are often robbed as well, so I required a signature for delivery to ensure that the package was not stolen.  The buyer states that the item was missing, but I have photos of me packing the box (rediculous that I have to do that) and shipping it.  The buyer says that one item is missing and wants a refund.  A legitimate buyer would ask if the third item was on the way or why is there a descrepancy with what was recieved vs. what was listed.

Nope.  Immediate request for a refund for all 3 items because only two items were in the box.

Hmmm.  If I were a buyer, I would ask what is up.  Basically I am being robbed and I am required by the Ebay guarantee to say "Thank you THEIF, May I have Another?"

Ebay basically tells sellers to take what is given, (because Ebay is not paying for it).

To throw sellers a bone, theyt can report buyers who they feel took advantage of the process - but they had still better pay up.  You should probably be asking why Ebay allows Theives to do this.  It is ultimately why sellers like me leave Ebay (I have made my last sale and am dealing with this one theft right now - the buyer does not even want to work with me on this.  She is getting here **bllep** refund.  I am out of here.  She can screw someone else over

Re: Warning from Ebay when I request a return and shipping fees

In nearly 20 years, I think I've had three or four times I wanted to return something.  If you have two so recently as to prompt that kind of message, maybe you should rethink what you're bying.  Or read the listings closer.  Or both.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

I see one neutral you left has been removed.  I see several comments that indicate you don't understand the costs of shipping.

Re: Warning from Ebay when I request a return and shipping fees

There's a lot of should of's in there, but lets start at the top.

You say "if I buy something from a seller and it is not as described, or defective, I should have every right to return". While I agree with you in principle, eBay appears to be cracking down on serial SNAD'ers. If you buy from China seller's, your going to have a lot of SNAD's.

Then you go on to say that "sellers get preferential treatment, and can do no wrong", that's an odd statement because you received refund for every SNAD you opened.

Let's continue..

As far as the "extra fees sellers add on to the cost of shipping is also ridiculous and in my opinion the buyer, THE PERSON THAT HAS TO PAY FOR SHIPPING, should be able to choose the method of shipping.  If I don't want to pay insurance for an item or priority shipping I shouldn't have to", I agree 100% however, eBay doesn't agree and that is why prices are going up and up and up on eBay.

If you keep asking sellers about shipping price, you're going to find yourself BLOCKED. It IS shipping AND handling BTW.

That will have no change to the outcome of the case. I suggest you say "Return for Refund" and get what you can get back and assuming the buyer wants to keep the other two, you just might skate by with them going away.

Re: Warning from Ebay when I request a return and shipping fees

Anyway I am out - I then changed from asking my buyer from sending it back to issuing an immediate refund and told her where to shove the puppets where they belong.  Fortunately I realized that I will not support theives and would rather leave this poisoned platform than continuing to "pay" for the theives to rob me and "hope" they will leave positive feedback.  I am in the somewhat unique position of not caring anymore.  I am done with EBay.

Good Luck. Unless your selling for cash, you're bound to have similar issues (albeit, far less, only because you'll have far less sales).

BTW, it's against policy to name and shame, but I think you know that.

Re: Warning from Ebay when I request a return and shipping fees

I know - I do not need this - so I take a bullet (from the scammers) for all the sellers who depend on Ebay for a living - I do not, so I am fortunate.  I need to focus on me and not the scams.  I called Ebay - told them the situation and pointed out my note as a sign of protest.  I would rather keep my self respect.  Good luck to all

I know that is why I am not staying with Ebay - delisted everything.  Originally I wanted the remainder of the order back. But Ebay insisted I call her (weird - they never allow that becuas it is not tracked). Based on how nasty she was I decided that sending her the note about how I really felt was worth more to me than getting the item back.  Plus I wanted Ebay to know - they do not care about their sellers so I really don't care about the theives they support.

I do care about all the legitimate, wonderful buyers I have had over the years.  But I will not stay around to be taken advantage of.

I suppose you will resent my post for warning you that your 8 bid retractions may hurt your ability to buy from some sellers here on eBay.  However, your resentment it is true.

You, and 1000's others....

Good Luck.

I will admit, someday, eBay will topple. It's just a matter of time.

What's interesting is they tend to buy the competition (they just don't get paid for the sales).

Maybe Ebay noticed all your bid retractions.
