Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

Hello, I have always used FedEx smart post but never had this experience. This time I dropped it off on Friday afternoon but it looks like didn't leave the site until the next Monday morning. It should be arriving at my buyer within 2-8 business days, instead, the estimated arrival date now is the following Thursday, which total is 9 business days?? Did I choose the wrong shipping method?? It's from Ca to Tn.

Had you taken your Priority Mail package to the post office it might have taken about 3 days from Ca to Tn.

Sometimes saving money on shipping costs doesn't pay off.

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

FedEx smart-post  main tracking  is down. Call up FedEx and ask to be transferd  to smart-post  and ask for them to do their internal tracking .you find out  it has been delievered  .  you will have to ask for the info sent to your email .

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

Smartpost is not picked up on weekends. If you missed the last FedEx Ground pickup on Friday afternoon, then the package would not be picked up until the Monday pickup.

9 calendar days often happens for slowish cross country Smartpost deliveries, but 9 business days does not (usually 6ish).

If you missed the Friday pickup that helps explain the new long delivery estimate - day one on the FedEx delivery clock is the next business day after pickup

Any time you use smart post you picked the wrong shipping method. It usually takes 2 weeks to go cross country.

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

SmartPost is the slowest of the slow. I've had SmartPost packages take 22 days to get to me. Average is around 12 days.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Then it shows up all beat up and you still have to go to the post office to get it.

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

I'm not a fan of SmartPost but for me in my area (rural Ohio) it is better than FedEx Express or FedEx Ground.  Though I have found a work around for that by having them deliver to my work Post Office. For the most part I avoid any seller or venue that offers only FedEx.

well if you don't know why you chose that , then you should reall learn more.... BEST shipping depends on many factors...and this has limits( slower, and only moves on weekdays, etc..but cheaper)... YOU are the only one that can say if it was the BEST... you musta missed fri pick up..but doesn't move til monday..so timmingwise..it would always be close -a dat or even two... but it was cheapest right?

depending on what it is and size/weight...maybe that was the "best price" but gotta really look and decide when you compare to a flate rate box...or the Regional Boxes...often it is a few bucks and honestly quicker, and safer(i say that with fingers crossed)... so IF you know you will miss the pickup time or day...AND really worry about a day or so...(worse case times)...then compare..

a few dollars loss is sometimes just worth the stress and worry....

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

The listing you got the negative for shows expedited shipping via usps priority mail. Is that the one you sent fedex smart post? No wonder buyer is not a happy camper. Always send via the method displayed in the listing unless you contact the buyer and make other arrangements with their approval.

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

I sold an old coal bucket (only those on SS  will know what that is). FedEx smart post was more expensive than FedEx home delivery and $10 less then priority mail. Plus, it actually was delivered in 3 days!

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

OP~~You say you have always used FedEx Smartpost BUT your current listings along with your completed listings that I can see all say they will be shipped USPS Priority mail??

I always ship priority or 1st class for small items.  I always have my best luck shipping on Saturdays.  The packages usually are delivered on Monday no matter where I ship them to.  Neither FedEx or UPS moves on week ends.  When your facility locked the doors on Friday they didn't open them back up until Monday~~that's why your package sat there for days until anybody even touched it.

When you designate USPS Priority as your shipping method it's smart to ship it in the way you state in the listings.  You will gain many more negs if you continue to not do that.  Your positive feedback % is way way below acceptable for many buyers to want to purchase from you now.  If you want to continue to use Smartpost, state it in your shipping method.  Don't lead your buyers to believe they will receive their item in a few days when it could be weeks before they receive it.

Re: Using FedEx smartpost is late!!

But op put in the listing it would be sent usps priority mail and that is how it should have gone. That's the problem now. Estimated delivery time was probably shorter with priority compared to smart post. If delivery is late based on estimated time I think op could get a defect too.
