On April 17th 2018 I ordered and bought a $900.00 headphone amplifier from an Ebay seller. It appears that the seller used USPS retail ground as the carrier and method. there is also a signature required option added.
On April 18th, the seller dropped the package off at the Orange City Florida P.O. This corresponds to the tracking number info I was provided with. The package is supposedly originating in Orange City Fla. and arriving in New Hampshire.
On April 19th, the package arrived in Jacksonville Fla. P.O.
I then got the typical "in transit to next facility" messages via tracking information. On April 25th (6 days after arriving in Jacksonville) the tracking message said that my package was now at the distribution center in Catano, PR. That surprised me but I figured oh well, the P.O. knows what they are doing.
On April 26th, 27th, & 28th, I got a message saying "in transit to next facility". The 28th was the last message.
Seller said that he went to the Orange City P.O. to check on what was happening. A while later on the 29th, I saw a new message in my tracking log that said something to the effect of " a missing package investigation has been initiated" .
Later in the day that message was gone. The next day my seller said that he had spoken to someone in my P.O. in New Hampshire and that they only said it is on the way. He knew the clerks name as well so I believe he got involved.
Now its May 6th anf I still only have information up to April 28th saying the package is in transit.
so, I dont know how long I should wait before submitting a "item not recieved" claim on Ebay. I do believe that the seller did what he was supposed to do but he got paid and almost 3 weeks later I have nothing. I was joking with my son that you could ride a bike from New Hampshire to Florida in about 3 weeks...
To top this story off, about two days after the seller shipped the amplifier I looked at where it was coming from more closely and I almost died......Myself and my family were on our way to Orlando to Disney and we were actually driving right through Orange City Florida. I messaged my seller to tell him and he said it would have been no problem if I had swung by his shop and picked the amp up myself......Oh well, so much for aging attention to details.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should be doing now? should I wait a little longer? I waited 42 days for a vinyl record from the UK once but it got stuck in customs. That seemed par for the course and wasnt that surprising. This situation on the other hand smells bad.........
