I am probably going to raise a few attacks for this thread. But it is a commonly increasing crime for sellers to use USPS provided "Free" PRIORITY SERVICE packaging for any other use than Priority mail, I received 4 items recently from sellers who used a Priority box and some even used padded priority mailers as bubble wrap and then concealed its identity as "PRIORITY Mail Only" with a Poly bag ! Do you know That is a crime that is costing ALL of us in a trickle down effect raising the postal rates higher and higher, I will Report any more illegal use of materials to my local postal manager. It is very easy to source free legal packing materials, I get mine from several contractors in the area and do my part to reuse and recycle ,

I doubt it, I am still a US civil employee, and my former boss Andy G**********s filed 1 misrepresented package with management from my pictures, and it resulted in said customers account getting charged for the balance, Go ahead break the law, I don't care cause more than half of idiots are going to vote for a criminal and destroy what's left of "america".

Xrays, Echo, even our boxes Dimensions are many fairly common ways we "see" inside what's being shipped,

There are no free supplies for any services other than PRIORITY, and Priority Express!

Granted I too try and recycle as much as possible, But Once I get a priority package I recycle it because it's so easy to get free materials,

Usps does not care if box was previously used or outdated. If it says priority it can only be used for priority. I support op.

What crime is being committed here? Can you cite the crime and penalties?
What if you don't pull the adhesive strip on the item and it's perfectly fine for the unadulterated box to be used in the future for priority shipping?

Are we that hard up for boxes? I have more than I can use thanks to wife's online purchases 🙂 However, I will keep her.
And I've always had my spliced parcels accepted. If the clerk won't ask for the postmaster.

I've got a closet (Walk in closet) full of old shipping materials, every so often when the avalanche begins and the mountain starts to attack me, I take one of the large boxes and fill it with a bunch of collapsed smaller boxes and clear out maybe half or more of the stash. I'll pull a few of the used and beat up Priority boxes that are bad enough to not be functional but nice enough to not be hideous and cut them up with a razor for cardboard harvesting ... I use that for stiffening padded envelopes. That's about the extent of it. I get way more PM supplies than I do anything else, and if I get anything else it's usually small and I save those as actual boxes for re-use on shipping small items. The PM boxes aren't usable for me other than storage or cardboard harvesting. Rare occasion I need to ship in a PM box and in those cases I've got a stash of clean new stuff.

Absolutely right. I just gave out my first negative feedback to a seller in more than 10 years because he shipped 2 tiny plants in a Priority Mail padded envelope, turned inside out, but used a Ground Advantage shipping label, against USPS rules. He has done this every time he ships and has 4 negative, and 1 neutral feedback over the last year from buyers with the same complaint about using Priority padded envelopes like he does. Seller lied to me time after time, and blamed the Postal Service for the "lost" shipments, mine being held for 59 days before Postal Service released it. Plants finally arrived, too wet, with both envelope and plants having mold. Seller wants me to revise the feedback. Not a chance in hell.

Can this box be used for Ground Advantage?

Yes, that box can be used for any service because it does not specify "Priority Mail' anywhere on it. Expect to pay for the box itself in addition to the postage, at a price probably higher than what you'd pay elsewhere such as Staples.

only illegal if they are new and unused

You need to read the USPS article which was posted just a few posts above yours. You can't use the free Priority Mail boxes for any service other than Priority Mail even if they are used.

I wouldn't use counterfeit boxes from China with the USPS logo.
eBay will remove listings like that - you can also report them to USPS.
