USPS mailman doesn’t scan packages when picked up, which is causing package losses and late shipment defects! This has been an ongoing issue—I’ve already spoken to the post office supervisor twice and even filed a complaint online, but nothing has changed. This lack of scanning is causing serious problems!

I had that same issue...I solved it by taking packages to the post office myself to get a scan receipt.

How many packages are you talking about at one given time?
When you approached your mailperson about your issue, what reason did they give you on why they won't scan your packages when they pick them up?

They have been getting lax about scanning for some time. Also, the insurance is not in effect until it's scanned.
USPS may be regretting the day they came up with delivery conformation.

So do I! 🙁

They scan packages at the post office.
Mail people deliver mail and packages.
That's the way it's been for decades.
They don't have time to scan items.
People want their mail delivered from the mail people.

Some postal carriers will scan a scan sheet, even though they will not scan packages.
Ask your postal carrier.
I get scans when I request a USPS pickup do not otherwise unless a trainee is covering the route.

Their primary mission is delivery, and these days many of them are covering second routes during their workday. If you're in need of a scan, I'd follow @ebooksdiva's advice.

They are required by USPS DMM regulations to scan packages on pickup request .

Mine get scanned.
I bribe my mail carrier

Maybe... try speaking with your carrier. Mine scans either a single or multiple items hanging in a bag on my mailbox, flag up.

Just drop them at the post office counter if you can and ask for scans.

Not everyone has easy access to a post office, especially those living in rural areas or far from shipping centers. Sometimes, scheduling a pickup or waiting for better weather is the only option. Convenience isn’t the same for everyone!
