USPS lost and late packages

Is anyone else having serious issues with USPS shipping right now? I have had 4 packages criss cross the USA back and forth (some a couple time) and one LOST package as of now that they cannot find....just in the last 3 weeks! This is to the point I am not sure I can use them right now. Trying to find a lost package with them is a complete JOKE. I really don't think anyone there cares one bit outside my local Post Office staff and they cannot do anything about it. Something is really wrong with the Wilmington and LA sorting centers.....

Re: USPS lost and late packages

I am having similar issues. I have had to file 3 lost package requests in the past 2 weeks. Deliveries have been slow and unpredictable during this holiday season and the tracking system is not being properly updated because they are simply not scanning packages. It's a guessing game as to when packages will arrive on either end. Hang in there.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

I use FedEx to ship my products, but I did make a purchase on eBay and was watching the tracking since I was having it delivered to my office.

When I tracked it, it showed delivered, customer pickup at post office.

I was like what???? I contacted the PO and told them I didn't pick it up and that I didn't even know it was there for pickup and that it should have been delivered at my office address.

They are trying to find the package, but no luck so far.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

My last 2 sales went to Texas, and have experienced delays. One still  there somewhere. After arrival at the regional facility in "Houston" it has no scans. Just the "in transit", "in transit, arriving late" gibberish for the last 4 days. No status update today. It is going to a "Houston" address. 40 minute drive from regional to the PO. The "pony express" was faster.

Other than those, all is well. As I have shut down for the busy "postal" season, no more December delays for me 🙂

I am beginning to wonder if the same people running the elections are running the USPS "sorting" system....That might explain it all.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

Did you call the phone number on the USPS website and talk to someone?  I admit the wait time is long sometimes one hour I waited on the phone and finally someone picked up and talked to me.  The USPS employee usually checks your tracking number and then opens a Package Research Case and looks for the package if the package is stuck in the mail system.  I've had to do a few of these calls.  Then a few days later I checked the tracking number and saw the package was on its way again to the destination.  Maybe it will work for you, maybe not, but it does not hurt to try to contact USPS by phone.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

Yes, filed online and spoke to someone at USPS (40 minute wait time). They filed the case. The issue is that the research case goes to the receiving post office....but what can they do as it never made it there. So, they just "close the case". I have my local postmaster looking in to it and she is also very frustrated as there is no number even for them to call and get answers from the sort center. She has sent several emails with NO RESPONSE. They won't even respond to internal employee requests....what a joke. I am guessing they are just overwhelmed with lost and misdirected packages. Something is going on and is way worse than I have every seen even at this time of year.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

If I were you in your situation, I would call them again and mention that the package is still stuck or lost in the mail system and that someone closed the case without resolution.  Ask them to please open a new case and properly look at the case, if they refuse, ask for a supervisor and see if anything else can be done.

So the tracking information never updates?

Re: USPS lost and late packages

I have went through the process online and they "resubmitted and escalated" the case.... but I also have my local postmaster involved tracking it down from within the "system". They have access to a lot more tracking than we see. She is really frustrated with it all and the lack of getting anyone to respond....now she understands my frustration. I don't think there is any more that can be done. If a Postmaster cannot get answers then neither will I. This is what tracking shows... My postmaster said that they are seeing a lot of packaged sent to Atlanta because of missing labels. Atlanta is where they ship any mail that is not deliverable due to missing label or damage. Then from there, they try and determine who's package it is by opening it and referencing missing mail search descriptions or they sell the items of wholesale if not.  The curve ball in all this is they know they also have thieves working in the system and especially the lightly vetted seasonal help. If I see my items back up on Ebay I fully intend to file fraud charges with the Postal Inspector and FBI. I have had packages disappear from the Wilmington facility in the past and from what I have read, it is beyond capacity there during the holidays.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

There is NOTHING wrong with the election system in the USA.  Stop believing that nonsense.  I am a poll worker and there is nothing wrong with the system. Stop believing the orange fat toad.  Stop it.   Now , there are LESS machines processing mail this year than in the past thanks to someone named DeJoy.  My brother is a postal employee and he confirms less machines in some locations.

Keep telling yourself that and clicking those ruby slippers together....Taking "weeks" to count votes is a disgrace.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

I hope they find your package.  Best of luck.

That's a good point about the labels missing on the packages.  It's always good to put the destination address inside of the package in case it did get lost so the PO can figure out where it will go.

Re: USPS lost and late packages

I always include an packing slip for that reason. If it makes it to Atlanta and they open it, they should be able to figure it out. If it is never found then that means only one possibility is left....it was STOLEN.
