Trying to keep this simple. I sold an item for $295 and got signature confirmation. The post office delivered the item but it says "DELIVERED LEFT WITH INDIVIDUAL". The buyer claims they never got the package and is freaking out.
Ebay told me it's out of my hands and that I am not at fault, however I feel bad for the buyer, I told them to contact USPS to see if they can help.
Anyone have any other advice or had experience with this?
thank you!

You don't need a siggy with kind of money. As long as it shows delivered to the buyers zipcode, your done. BLOCK and especially don't say anything in eBay messages to that buyer. BTW, print to PDF the tracking info and relevent shipping details inluding the email that PayPal says you have seller protection, for at least 180 days.

Its a waste of money for anything below $750

The buyer went to the post office and they were able to determine that the package was delivered to the wrong house (signature was given...chicken scratch!). Anyway, the carrier was able to get the package and deliver it to the customer...thank goodness!!! Problem solved!
I'm glad you were able to recover it.

Well, in this case, the home that the package was delivered to had like 18 packages delivered to it at one time and my package got "mixed in" (or so they say...)

I waited for the mail that day and signed although the carrier said that "I was just going to sign it for you," nice for me not so nice for the seller.
Ouch. If you have not given express written permission for the carrier to act as your agent and sign for you, he is not really helping you or himself. He is putting his job at risk, and putting your packages at risk.
If the package disappears before you get it - either carrier misdelivers, keeps it, throws it away, it gets stolen because it was left in your mailbox or at your front door when it should have been handed directly to you - you would lose an Item Not Received claim.

I dont think there is a dollar limit - I think you get signature confirmation when it is required regardless of the amount. In my case, I would want it any amount over the $50 postal insurance.
In the continuing saga of my aunt's boots, she got a letter from the post master stating that though the boots were "delivered" they did not go to the right house and that the signature on that receipt was not the person they were SUPPOSED to go to. Im not sure it will help - all the boxes are ticked protecting the seller but of course she HAS NO BOOTS so is out boots and money. Sigh.

"I dont think there is a dollar limit - I think you get signature confirmation when it is required regardless of the amount."
What does that mean?

I mean if the item is one of a kind or you just dont want to play games and want to make ABSOLUTELY SURE it was received you get signature confirmation regardless of the price. I will get it on a $5 piece of plastic if I need to be covered. Sure $750 would definitely require signature confirmation but I think a $70 item would justify it just as much if I didnt want to be out of pocket if something went wrong.

That's what third party insurance is for. It insures you AND it doesn't inconvenience the buyer.
