USPS Scanning a return as 'Delivered' but not received until 2 days later

This is not a new problem, but is much more frequent now that USPS has ended overtime pay!

I had a return scanned as delivered, but it didn't actually show up until 2 days later. The mail carrier or the PO itself must have scanned it 'delivered' because it arrived 2days later at 9am and my route location's normal delivery 'never' arrives before 2pm! and in fact once I received the return, because I was checking every time I had the chance, when I got it it a 9am there was nothing else delivered so I checked again at around 3pm and had more mail??

This is very concerning because mail can easily be scanned delivered, but simply be stolen or dumped in a ditch?

eBay should protect sellers from this or stop allowing sellers to use USPS through eBay lables

About all you can do is file a complaint with the PO or Postmaster General.  This happens to us several times a year, the item is scanned as delivered but then doesn't arrive until the next day.

I was with you until you started blaming ebay, and then stated 'not using usps'- who would you use? Pony Express retired a century or 2 ago. Fedex Home? USPS does most of their 'home' deliveries anyway. UPS- they have their own problems, not to mention ebay does not have a deal with them (it's usually Fedex or UPS- never both)

Anyway, this is something you should talk to your carrier about; not the PO Gen at their home office-  the person with boots on the ground.

Re: USPS Scanning a return as 'Delivered' but not received until 2 days later

I just experienced a similar issue today - a buyer requested a refund, I won't get into details about all that, all I will say is that he received exactly what was listed in brand new condition. He initiated a return request and ebay sided with him since he simply said "item was not as described"(which again was incorrect, but not the point of this post). Ebay told him to mail it back, that was a week ago today and I still do not have the item in hand. Yet, today ebay messged me and said that the buyer has shown that the item has arrived, therefore they were refunding his payment. They actually took $$ out of my Paypal account before confirming with me that I actually had the item in hand - even if tracking shows it was delivered how do they know it was mailed back in the same condition as he received it, or that I even received the actual item back and it wasn't just an empty box tracked to my location? This system needs to be rethought, I'm just hoping that maybe it'll show up tomorrow or the next day as some of you have stated above. Thanks for the read, I'm just ranting as this was not a cheap item and the fact that I cannot get ebay on the telephone to discuss(and request tracking info) is absolutely maddening.

I am not the only one suggesting 'not using usps'! Below you will find an exact quote from ebay itself!

"USPS is experiencing significant delays across their delivery network. Please consider using other carrier options that may provide a better buyer experience."

so what do you have to say about that underhood??
