This is the second part of my recent experience on Ebay.
I purchased an acoustic guitar. It arrived damaged beyond repair-because
of very poor packaging. I took photos and sent them to the seller and Ebay requesting a refund. The seller replied with, "It wasn't like that when I sent it".
"I will file a claim with USPS and if they won't accept the claim I will give you a refund". A few day's later I received an email from seller stating, "USPS denied the claim, would you be interested in a partial refund?" I declined.
In the mean time I contacted Ebay and the next day received a printable return label. I made a splint and found a box and returned the guitar the next day.
According to USPS tracking the guitar was delivered on Feb 9 2019 at the mailbox
of the seller.
Yesterday I came home from work and the guitar was sitting in my living room.
My daughter said the mailman just dropped it off. (I live in the country)
The package was unopened. The only visible markings were UTF written in on
the original shipping label and two small return to sender barcodes.
I asked the seller why they returned the guitar, they said they never received it.
I contacted Ebay and there wasn't anything on their end to explain why the guitar was returned. I verified the sellers address with Ebay and sent that information to the seller to verify with them that this was their address on record, but I didn't get a response yet.
So, now I'm holding this broken guitar waiting for the seller to confirm their address.
The original posting is under 19df10 with the event and photo's.

UTF = Unable to forward
It's likely the seller has the wrong return address on file, though it's possible USPS made an error.
You should have posted this as an update on your other thread.

You were refunded a month ago, so what's your question - what to do with the guitar? Tell the seller you'll hold on to it until Monday then it gets thrown out if he doesn't send a prepaid label. It's destroyed so not sure why he'd want it back at this point.

I don’t have a question.
Just sharing my experience.
The guitar 🎸 is already in the trash.
It is my conviction to make people whole which is what I tried to do.
Thankyou for your opinion.

@19df10 I read this post but not the other thread ... so just curious, did you receive a full refund from the Seller so that you did not lose any money? The UTF is a little strange but its possible the Seller has the wrong shipping address on file either by accident or design.
I am also disappointed to hear the Seller's damage claim with USPS fell through, although that's what they told you, no telling what the truth is. We're going to be processing an Insurance claim with them this week on a damaged item but to be honest, I think shipping insurance is a scam since all they have to do is "deny" the claim, what can shippers do? And our item WAS securely packaged with Styrofoam liners and the whole bit ... sadly USPS must have used the package in a Rugby match and that is not something anybody can protect against.

Is check with the post office Yes I received a full refund.
In a perfect world I suppose I would have a better answer but I don’t.
The packaging I prepared to return the guitar In was three layers thick and still came back to me with a hole. All that we do to prevent such things from happening seem to to be futile. I have had two guitars shipped to me with no damage but were packaged well. One was even from Goodwill which I thought for sure would be the worst.
On my most recent case, the seller created his own label with receipt in the guitar case which match the label I was sent through eBay. Also the seller recently sold something on eBay using the same address. The last thing I will do is check with usps.
Good luck with your claim.

So in-between surgeries today I was able to do more investigating.
The guitar sat on someones porch in Floral Park, NY before someone in
the house told USPS there wasn't anybody there by that name so it was returned
to me.
I called eBay yesterday and they verified the sellers home of record was in Floral Park NY. I then contacted the seller again and asked if they had moved recently, no they said, I have lived in PA for some time. What? Even before he sold me the guitar on eBay he was living in PA. I guess it didn't dawn on him to change the address with eBay, but maybe he did and eBay dropped the ball. I informed the seller of what eBay has for his address. I'm done.

To be clear @19df10 please check with post office if USPS paid your seller on the claim.

If your seller had issued the return label, the return address, with the option to edit, is near the top of the page.

Return shipping label was from eBay.
