USPS Priority Mail International rates question

I have a Buyer from the UK insisting that there is a Priority Mail package rate of $ 24.50 for a 3 lbs box  measuring 16" x 9" x 3".  I had the item set for USPS First Class International shipping which comes out to $ 39.00 ... and while I think that is high I just want to make sure I am not missing something here ...

Here's a pic of the rates the calculator returned from the USPS site ...

Re: USPS Priority Mail International rates question

When I was actively selling here and on the 'E' site, I always had problems with UK buyers and one from Spain, always.  They always complained about the shipping cost which I have no control over so I just stopped selling internationally - I just could not take it anymore.  And if it was not the shipping, it was to mark the item below their threshold for taxing.   The only option that I gave to the other site was for them to use one of those forwarding services.

Re: USPS Priority Mail International rates question

He's dreaming , or looking at a very old pricing chart. Even the basic Flat Rate Envelope costs more than that.

You might share with him either the link to the shipping calculator or this link to the main USPS rates publication, so he can see the reality for himself.

lol, good luck with that, First Class Intern isn't even that cheap, anywhere from USPS or any 3rd service.

I don't ship a lot of International items but have never had this kind of issue.  The Buyer is insisting on something that doesn't exist.  I have given them the option to have me Cancel the purchase but they keep insisting ... so I am very close to Cancelling and using the reason that they are asking for more then what is being offered (or how ever it reads) ...

Here's the rub, they won the Auction at $ 1.05 over someone who bid the starting price.  The other Bidder is from the US so their shipping cost would be lower as would PayPal fees ...

you can give the second (US bider) second change offer I do believe...rarely do auctions so not certain but I remember there being an option to that effect

Re: USPS Priority Mail International rates question

But don't send a Second Chance Offer before you've resolved the original transaction.

Re: USPS Priority Mail International rates question

Have you sent them a link to the USPS "notice 123" that shows the rates, or a screen shot of the rates displayed on that "rate fold".  Even 1st Class international 2 # is more than the amount that they are claiming.

Sent several screen shots, the one on my OP and this one, which I did again.  I found their issue, they were using a weight of 1.3 lbs NOT 3.0 lbs.  The $ 24.50 shows up for a 1.3 lbs package but a 3.0 lbs package has a higher rate.

@nuclearomen, @buyselljack2016 , @nobody*s_perfect , @postingid2017

Update:  Buyer's $ 24.50 was for a 1.3 lbs package NOT a 3.0 package ... they asked me to cancel the purchase which I did and received eBay's message that I successfully cancelled the purchase.  I just sent out the 2nd Chance offer to the other bidder ... sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't, we'll see.

The original Buyer included a dig in their request to cancel ... which I expected and of course the dig will be ignored but I will reply thanking them for the request to cancel ...

Thanks for all of your replies ...

Mr. L

Re: USPS Priority Mail International rates question

Perhaps they were confusing kilograms and pounds? 1.3 kg is 2.8 pounds (close to 3 pounds.)

They also gave the 1.3 LBS gram equivalent of 598g in their message ... good thought though.  Obviously they never bothered to check the Calculator from their end for 3.0 lbs ... or they did and wanted a discount on shipping.

Actually - Pirateship will only charge you $23.95 for a 3 pound package to the UK - and it goes through the USPS with tracking. As long as the length + width + height is less than 36" the rate applies. In other words, NOT a special flat rate box - just any box.
