Ever since about a year ago they have started to lose about 1-2 packages a month of my outgoing mail.
Doesn't seem to matter what I do, worse is it has started to count against my metrics (this I find particularly troublesome as I really have no control over what happens once the package is in USPS possession).
My account was recently suspended from listing for 7 days because of this.
Any other sellers experiencing this?

I haven’t had any packages lost but my PO won’t take them if the barcode is taped over. They recommend taping over the addresses which I do but they say taped over postage (barcode) is not valid. I think this is old school thinking but I have no idea.
Yup, that is old school thinking. Current USPS online guides state that taping over the barcode is strongly recommended to avoid smearing or tearing of the barcode.

Along with the other advice, make sure your labels fit completely on the package, if they don't, trim them down. Overhangs can cause ripped labels

My local post office tells everyone to tape over the barcode to protect it from rain/mist/etc.

I haven't had anything lost but lately I have had a few packages that have taken the "scenic" route. I had one package that was literally going 3-5 miles, was suppose to be delivered the following day. Checked on the tracking, the package was literally up the coast about 500-800 miles away and was on it's way back down. When I spoke to the post office, they said it had to do with the distribution center. I hand write my labels and I take them to the post office and each one is scanned by a teller. Just seems to be out of no where.

I did want to mention...
Yes it is very possible for even laser printer toner to smear / smudge.
It fully depends on the ability of the fuser to make the ink stick but it may not be the fuser's fault, it could be cheap toner or cheap paper or humidity or roller contamination or any other sort of issues or a combination.
It's really lovely, one of my all-time favorites, the PAPER JAM!!!
Which is especially troublesome in the case of shipping labels, when the label comes apart inside the printer mechanisms and certain rollers end up with sticky residue.
Sorry I got off track.

Only one small 1st class package disappeared after it was scanned at a sorting center and that was last year. It apparently never reached the next sorting center. The buyer waited nearly a month to contact me, which was a bad idea!
One package damaged by UPS. The outer box and inner product box were pierced by a forklift fork, but the buyer kept the item anyway.
Back in the day of payments by mail one buyer sent dollar coins as payment. The envelope had been carefully steamed open, the tape carefully pealed up from each coin and reattached to the enclosed letter. The enveloped resealed. Makes one wonder where in the postal facility someone would have time to do this without any damage to the envelope or letter. The buyer made the mistake on not hiding the coins with an internal cardboard strip. On the other hand a California based studio that bought an item sent a $100 bill in a letter and it arrived safely. European payers used to send U.S. cash inside aluminum foil as banking fees were so high there.
This is why its bad idea for eBay to brand labels and boxes with its name. The vast majority of postal employees are honest, but for those that are not such labels act as a magnet for theft. Even after buyers obtain their items from the post office such eBay branded packaging acts as a magnet for thieves who may see such a package inside someone's car. And of course there are porch pirates. But once again eBay is more concerned about promotion and not the safety of buyers and sellers!
Sorry but I call **bleep** on that last part.
I think that a eBay marked package would be the very last thing I would think had anything of value in it.
I'm sorry but I deliver branded boxes from QVC, HSN, JTV, BarkBox, Stichfix, Saks, Walmart.com, Joanne fabrics, Puritans Pride, and many many others including pharmacy's. I can guarantee that none of them will contain item like a rear light cover for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee (something useful for only a small percentage of people but with hardly any resell value) or even worse something from the "well worn" fetish category (unless of course the boxes were reused).

No lost packages here, But I have only had 1 sale and that one sale was a first class package and it took 8 days to arrive , even though I shipped it right away.. NO SALES = NO lost Packages.
