USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

I sold an item.

USPS Delivered it but forgot delivery scan.

I contacted customer and she confirmed delivery.

Tracking still says it's waiting for delivery scan.

I opened a case with USPS.

The destination post office person called and said there is nothing he can do. (I think he just doesn't know how.)

So...now what do I do?  Will I get paid anyway?  Should I call eBay?  If the post office can't change it, how can eBay change it?  I feel like it is wasting my time when the customer is happy and the transaction is complete.  I am new to managed payments so I don't know how it works yet.

Advise appreciated.

Re: USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

I send as many as 10 items a day without delivery scans and I'm also in MP.   I get paid without issue.

What does your MP dashboard tell you?

Re: USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

the 1st thing to do is to stop contacting your buyers and asking if they got the product. as you can see, looking at the tracking number is causing problems so I would just avoid doing it and continue shipping  when you are paid

There's a dashboard? 😂

Thank you for the reply.  I really appreciate it.  So I don't need to worry about it.  Cool.

Re: USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

Thanks for the advice.  To me, tracking the package with the customer is part of the service I provide.  I try to spot problems before the customer does.  It helps them feel more confident that any problem will be taken care of.   I am happy to do it.  It's just that this one was unsolvable.

Thanks again.  I really appreciate it.

Re: USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

From seller hub click "Payments"

That shows you your sales record,    Pending payments,  and payments that have been made to your bank account and when they were made.     There is a delay between when ebay makes a payment to your account and when it actually appears in your checking.    For me it's 24 hours.    Some seller are waiting longer than 24 hours to see their money but that may be issues with their bank.

Pretty much shows you everything you want to know as far as MPs are concerned.

It also shows you up to date info regarding your ebay invoice.

Re: USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

I understand the urge to offer your customers good service,   But following the tracking of your packages is buying you more problems that it's solves.

At some point,   You are going to inform one of your buyers that there's a problem,   and he'll take that opportunity

to claim non delivery and you'll be left hanging.

I had that happen on a $150.00 deal I sent to Canada.    The package did not get scanned at the time of delivery

 and the "Buyer"   claimed INR.

Wasn't much I could do other than refund his money.

You can tell the customers that  the USPS employees that aren't scanning,   But it's you that has to pay.

Re: USPS Forgot Delivery Scan

I see your point.  Mostly, following it has done me good.   I've been able to call the Post Office and get them to address problems before they became eBay issues.  We'll see.  But you are correct that a dishonest person could see it as an opportunity.  I'm so thankful for the honest and appreciative ones.

I've had all sorts of experiences on eBay over the years.  I try to learn from each one and find as many ways to avoid them as possible.  That's why I started keeping a close watch on tracking.  Some things are unavoidable, though.

Unless you are a new seller, or are in some other way subject to having "a hold on payments", you will be paid. Sometimes before the item arrives, sometimes after depending upon the day it was paid. No payouts on weekends, so with the processing time added in with the money transfer time it could be there before your $$ are in the checking account.
