I prefer to ship my items "old school", meaning I do not use the ebay shipping program to get reduced shipping rates.
I take my item to the post office almost the same day purchased or the next day and receive my tracking number from USPS.
I then upload the tracking number for the item purchased. Several times, ebay has not shown my tracking and doesn't even show the "side window" on the item where you usually see the tracking.
This has been happening consistently this week. I often send a message telling them their tracking number.
