Howdy, I was just curious what you recommend doing as far as packing slips. Do you include them or not, that is the question? 😀🤔 Thanks in advance for your reply!

I like to include a packing slip.
I usually sell about 25-30 items every Sunday and a lot of those buyers are multiple purchases. Customers are reminded who it is from and I write Thank You on the packing slip.
And if the label on the outside is damaged, the packing slip has everything needed to complete the shipping, although, I've never had any buyers complain about a damaged label.
Seems like all the replies for you are about half that do and half that don't!

I include a packing slip with eIS orders because it is required. Otherwise, I don't include packing slips.

Only on international shipments going through eBay International Shipping.
Otherwise, no. Waste of resources and most people will toss them in the trash anyway. Buyers that want a record can access their order details through eBay.
I have a small thank you slip with a link to my eBay store that's included.

I print them prior to shipping and then they go into every package.

I always include one and put it inside the outside layer if bubble wrap so it can be read without removing the bubbles. I do this so the buyers address is attached to the item. I once had a poly envelope get destroyed by USPS machinery and the item was loose. USPS was able to deliver it because of the packing slip with the buyer's address. Buyer was amazed it got the her undamaged and I will never send an item without the backup address.

Those of us who are old, and trained that including a packing slip is the professional way to work, always include them.
Those of us who shipped orders we received on purchase orders always include them,

I always have included a packing slip - there is no downside (except for nominal cost of paper and ink). If you don’t want to, then include something like a short note of thanks. It personalizes the transaction and just might prod the buyer to leave positive feedback in response.

There should be a copy of the shipping label or such in case the outer one gets damaged was always suggested. However, I have been told a number of times the postal service no longer looks inside. Don't know if that is true however.
About half the items I receive have a packing slip included.

I always put one in there. It is just a "pick list" slip.
I have read here where sellers have posted about a buyer complaining, or filing a return for something that was never sent by that seller.
As welI as to have info for USPS to identify the buyer address in the event that the label is damaged, I do it so that there is no confusion about what transaction arrived.

I always include one. Packing slips are part of the product, which is why if you ever use "packing list Enclosed" envelopes they can be tax exempt as they are value added to the product cost. "Invoiced Enclose" are not tax exempt as they are not valued added on to the product.

If you have business customers or anything that is delivering to a front desk or receiving dock, make sure to include a packing slip on the outside of the package.
This allows the package to move onto the actual buyer without being opened.

I do not include except for international, where occasionally I remember to include one.

Yes, include one and here's why:
Helps carrier deliver or return package, if outside label is damaged.
Helps buyer know who the item came from and especially helpful to confirm multiple items shipments.
Provides a place to add your own links, ads, and thank you.
Lets you check the shipment contents and the shipping label information.
Required for EIS international shipments.
FYI if you are using a 4x6 label printer the packing slip can be easily be scaled to fit, so I print them interleaved with the shipping label.

Your mention of international spawned thoughts of shipping through Freight Forwarders. They don't have access to the buyers eBay account, thus I send 2 packing slips in many of those orders so the FF has one for their records for whatever they might need it for.
Addendum: if it is one of those companies that buys off eBay for their overseas clients, they tend to ask for invoices/packing slips to be included.

Not only do I include a packing slip, I make sure to put a personalized message on them in ink. I think it just adds a nice touch, especially for unique or uncommon items.
I don't do a lot of volume though so this is probably something that would go out the window if I did.
