The USPS has announced changes to Mailing and Shipping Services prices starting January 24, 2021

The USPS has announced changes to Mailing and Shipping Services prices. These changes will take effect on January 24, 2021. That is just great with there terrible service the last 2 months. They are costing me money with packages not being delivered or taking 30 days or more. And eBay refunding buyers because tracking shows no movement of item. I have opened 32 missing packages and 6 lost ones since the second week of December.

• 3.5 percent overall increase for Priority Mail
• 1.2 percent overall increase for Priority Mail Express
• 8.9 percent average increase for Parcel Select
• 6.2 percent overall increase for First-Class Package Service
• 4.9 percent average increase for Parcel Return Service
• 3.0 percent overall increase for USPS Retail Ground

The price increases were announced by USPS in October of 2020. There have been a number of threads about the changes.

Why does eBay use the old shipping price when sending an invoice for an auction that ended on Saturday night?  It should be using the new rate since that's what it will cost me.  I'm losing money on every sale I had which was over a dozen.

I started adjusting my shipping rates four months ago when they announced the pathetic Holiday Rates that made no difference in the service level.

Now I can see how they line up moving forward.

What is the total of your losses?  Against what total of revenues?

That's not bad.  And they  deserve the extra money.  It's a cheap price to have something mailed across country.

I raised my shipping charges slightly (roughly 25 cents per parcel) for the "holiday" rates, then I did not reduce them for the 3-4 weeks when they expired and were not in effect. So now, I'm all set and do not have to do an increase!

I'm especially annoyed at the USPS right now - literally out of no where, for the past 3 months or so I have received at least 10 + "label adjustments" increase prices automatically.  It was an act of congress to contact anyone at "verify postage" where the emails were coming from.   Long story short apparently they have installed big, conveyor belt machines in numerous locations to "audit packages" and auto charge the ebay seller using ebay's label system!   My scales are 100% accurate and I even bought weights to calibrate it - it was dead on the $$.    You can dispute the charges but there is a lot of info they want including the tracking #.  For me - I archive my listings once shipped & feedback given - so it's a complete hassle to dig all that info up.  My solution?  start using FedEx and/or UPS when I can especially if price just slightly off - and I have been bumping all my package weights up too.   If an item weighs 2lb. 1 oz - I put in 3 lbs.  REDIK since ebay gives U an ounce column.  This is so new but I'm still surprised that no one else is talking about this?  Is it really ONLY ME?   I've been doing ebay for 17 years - it's the first I've experienced this.   Grrrrrr.  Sheesh!

The APV system has been in place for 4 years.  Since you're experienced a sudden surge of corrections, I wonder if there's a problem with the machinery at your local sorting center. One common source of errors is when two packages are measured together, which is more likely to happen with envelopes and other First Class packages. Another problem was some Regional A boxes that had the wrong bar code.

Delta variant surging and by Christmas I would be worrying about the USPS being in trouble again like last year as far as delayed packages etc. I personally will not be using them. Use another shipping service.
