Somewhat obvious shipping cost error from eBay's computer

I was wondering why I received a charge back on shipping. This weights and dimensions we correctly placed in the ad.

I found the problem.  For each item I had listed an accurate a weight of 1 lb 7 oz and box dimensions of 9" x 7" x 7" .

When a customer ordered 10 units the eBay calculated package weight of 14.375 lbs which is correct; but the package size in the rate calculation was left at 9" x 7" x 7" .  Of course we are not able to place 10 units in the same box that is sized for one unit.

Shipping is charges by both weight and dimension.

They don't know what size box you'll use, so they don't change it.

I looked at your item and it looks like it is charging based on the overall weight.  You have $7.67 for one item and $15.84 for 10 items.  There is a way to add an additional shipping cost to each additional item such as $3.00 for each additional item.   You will need to figure the additional amount you need for each item and then adjust your shipping.

@art3601

You can adjust your shipping rules for multiple purchases when setting up your listings but if a buyer already purchased the items, you can't charge more for shipping than the order shows.

If the items haven't yet been purchased, you can revise your listing.

I would have tried to fit the items in a priority flat rate box. Up to 70 pounds and no change in price. That's how I do all my heavier shipments.
