I sold a 32g tin of KIWI shoe polish yesterday. When packaging item for shipping today I realized it was set up for eBay Standard Envelope and the buyer paid $1.11 for shipping . While the item is within the weight tolerance, it is 3/4" thick. I can't ship this Standard Envelope. Do I contact the buyer and inform them or do I just chalk it up to being an idiot and reprint a proper label for Ground Advantage. I'll end up losing money on the item. However, my thoughts are leaning toward eating the expense. I changed the shipping on all the other items. I'm sure I'm not the first seller to screw this up. I sell more sports cards than anything so it defaulted to Standard Envelope and I caught it too late. thanks for any information.

You are NOT allowed to 'ask the buyer for more $$' so it's best to just 'keep it on you'.

The listing is showing $1.11 for shipping; you set it up wrong, so you have to just absorb the cost of your error. Don't say anything to the buyer.

That has happened to me before. You just ship the item with the proper service like Ground Advantage and eat the cost. If you use eBay labels, you can display the cost of shipping so the buyer can see that they got a "deal" on the shipping so maybe they will leave you a positive feedback. Mistakes happen and you learn from them.
