First time I had an experience like this and I was hoping someone else had a similar experience and was able to provide some insight. Bought an item on 5/11, seller listed handling time of 3 days and "economy shipping". Shipped out on 5/17 (after I sent a followup email) which is past the handling time and now 19 days later, the package still has not arrived. For a $700 dollar item, is it unreasonable to expect a quicker shipping/handling time? Has anyone recieved some partial refund or anything else in situations like this? I recieved a different item ordered on the same day as this one 14 days ago and this item in question is still not out for delivery, four days past the latest "expected by" date, and probably wont be delivered for another 2-3 days judging by its current location.
Thank you for your input!

People have mentioned that, and it is because I have never seen this shipping option offered in the 100-ish purchases I made and didnt expect it to take over 2 weeks longer to recieve than any other item ordered. If I ever see this option offered again, I will take that route though and ask for different options.

Yes, and if you box if yourself without priority and request first class instead, the difference in price vs economy is trivial. Thats just my opinion though. Request first class shipping, lesson learned.

Really need more info on your situation.
1. What city/state are you and the seller located?
2. What time of day did you pay for this item?
3. What is the last estimated delivery date eBay provided you for this item?
4. Economy shipping is only a grouping name for shipping services eBay came up with and is not really recognized by the carriers USPS, UPS or FedEx or DHL - by what carrier was this item shipped & by what shipping service?
5. Most carriers do not count Sat., Sun & Holidays in their estimated delivery times. But you seem to.
6. eBay does not count Sat. Sun & Holidays in their handling time calculations.
7. Did you receive a tracking number from your seller? If so what is the current status.
8. How would you know the size of the package that was shipped if you haven't received it?

Very detailed quesitons and I understand why you ask them. I got a different perspective from other people that has taught me to ask for different shipping options as a result of this issue so this question can be marked as closed. With that being said, I only consider saturday as a handling time for myself in an attempt to show above average customer service, but do not expect it from others. The package is late by both USPS and ebay estimates, but thats the fault of USPS. And i know the size of the package because I handled the same item myself. Granted, the seller could have used a bigger box for the item, but it wouldnt be a 20x20x20 (for example) so it would not affect shipping times. The package is still showing progress to reach its destination and will arrive eventually.

Actually, if it weighs 1.5 lbs you can't use First Class Parcel, you have to use Priority Mail.
For something that light, using any class of USPS service that would be considered "Economy" is just ridiculous. Except if it's eligible for Media Mail, in which case you might be able to ship for slightly less than half the price. But even then — shaving maybe $5-6 off the cost of shipping for a $700 item? I don't get that.

@pkm_davidNo. You can't request first class mail. The weight limit is 15.99 oz. You said this item weighs 1.5lbs. So it can't be shipped first class mail. You should asked to upgrade to PRIORITY mail.

Beats me too. The longer its in transit or sitting in a warehouse the higher the chance of damage or loss. Personally, not a gamble I ever want to take regardless of how much the item costs. Some people see it differently though.

Replies to those detailed questions might have provided more insight into to how late is late. Without more details responses can only be a SWAG at best.
BTW I always ship on Saturdays as well have done that since day one adn only ship via First Class Package or Priority.

Actually, turns out the seller paid for 2 day shipping and USPS took 2 weeks to deliver. Maybe it was a poorly placed label but either way.. good job USPS lol...
05-31-2018 05:03 AM
So the item was delivered? And now you see it was USPS's fault?
Yes, seller was late one day with his handling time but you say he upgraded you to "expedited" [2-day] shipping.

Correct, this is no longer an issue with the seller. Hard to believe USPS takes two weeks to ship when charging people for 2 day but thats not an issue for this forum.
