I sold an item for $1550 (yeah!) and reached out to the buyer to confirm he knows that a signature will be required on delivery. I went down the rabbit hole and couldn't find a definitive answer on whether or not ebay alerts buyers to that requirement.
Sellers of expensive items - do you typically reach out to make sure the buyer is aware of that policy?

Yes, I do send a message as a heads up.
I believe it's displayed on the page only when eBay handles shipping - like for Authenticity Guarantee items. But otherwise eBay does not alert the buyer.
It's fairly common for expensive items to require sig conf, so the buyer shouldn't be surprised, but still - give them a heads up so they can be prepared.
P.S. Congrats on the sale! Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

If you want the buyer to be aware of the signature requirement, you should explain it prominently in the listing Description. Buyers are not specifically notified by eBay about this.
