If a buyer pays for shipping on eBay why am I paying again at the P.O.?

Re: Shipping

Buyer pays eBay item + shipping + sales tax.
eBay takes selling fees on that total amount.
eBay remits sales tax to buyer's state.
eBay sends the balance item + shipping (less fees) to the seller.
Seller uses the funds to buy a shipping label.

eBay gave you the buyer's shipping money after taking out their fees so you can use it to purchase the label. View your transaction details here:

Re: Shipping

The buyer paid you to ship it and you have to pay the carrier to deliver it.

Have a great day.

And that is an entirely different question. Are you in fact buying your postage AT THE POST OFFICE?

If so you are wasting a whole lot of money. Buy your postage online through eBay or any of the other sites available. It will be significantly cheaper (and easier) than standing in line at the P O and paying full retail price.

Good point. Don't waste money buying labels at the post office. If you don't have a printer, you can use the QR code to get the discount and have USPS print the label for you at the front counter or Kiosk in the lobby.

Re: Shipping

Interesting, what if a seller makes this mistake.

I sell cheap trading cards, so this area is not for me, but I just thought of this scenario.

A seller sells a book for $5 and shipping costs $4.75.

The total cost for the buyer will be $9.75 total.

The seller in a hurry accidentally select the option to pay for the label using their PAYPAL FUND.

When this happens does it mean the $4.75 that was paid by the buyer still goes to the seller even if the seller never used that fund to pay for the label?

Yes. The buyer's payment goes to the seller regardless.

Re: Shipping

I don't think you understand how this works.

When the buyer pays they pay for the shipping at time of sale.

Minus the fees all the money gets sent to the seller.

The seller then can decide how they want to pay for shipping. They can go to the PO, however they will charge retail rates and will most likely be more expensive.

It's better to use an eBay label for commercial rates.

However the seller will always pay for the label.
