Shipping question

Can someone explain to me why a seller who states in their listing that they are located in NY and in their "about" page state that they are in the United States will not ship to my state, New Jersey which is practically right next door?

I checked their listing.  No where does it state NJ is excluded.  They're also asking me to send a cancellation notice.

Re: Shipping question

Are you using a PO Box? Sellers can exclude shipping to PO Boxes because some carriers won't  ship to one.

Re: Shipping question

Do not ask to cancel. The seller is trying to get out of a defect by asking you to do so.

Just wait until the estimated delivery date passes and file an item not received case.

Re: Shipping question

They want you to be the one to cancel so that they won't get a defect.

When you asked them what the problem is with NJ, what's the answer?

Item #?

That's because it's not possible to exclude the 48 contiguous states.

The rare exception is if a seller is selling an item prohibited by a specific state's law (like tasers, certain plants, etc) which requires the seller to put a statement in their listing.

I assume that's not the case here and it's just the seller trying to get out of a cancellation defect which is why they are asking you to agree to a cancellation.

I am curious - what's the item @krazybouthorses ?

Re: Shipping question

Nope.  No P.O. Box.   I use a physical address all the time.  Haven't changed it in years.

Re: Shipping question

Was surprised they asked me to cancel.   Don't plan on cancelling either.  And, was going to do the exact thing you suggested.  Wait and then file item not received.

Re: Shipping question

They haven't answered yet when I sent a response to them.   Not sure whether they will answer or not.

Re: Shipping question

Not the case of a prohibited item.  It's garbage bags.

Re: Shipping question

That seller has horrible feedback @krazybouthorses . They are violating eBay's drop-shipping policy by placing orders with Sam's Club and having them ship directly to buyers. They know out of stock cancellations will kill their business fast, which is why they are trying to get you to cancel.

Re: Shipping question

I know about the feedback.  I've dealt with sellers with very questionable feedback and in most cases had no problems.  Got my items.   It doesn't hurt to give them a chance in my opinion.

The garbage bags that I bought weren't out of stock and last time I looked at the listing it stated one left; that's after I bought mine.

I definitely won't cancel.   I'll just wait until the 20th which is what shows as the latest date to receive the item.  If I don't get it by then, I'll file a not received case.
