Shipping dates

I’m getting tired of sellers and eBay saying an item has shipped, when all that has happened is the seller has created a label. Creating a label does not mean the item has shipped and I’ve had sellers wait another 5-6 days to actually mail. Please change this policy.

Re: Shipping dates

Do these packages arrive within the stated ETA?

Re: Shipping dates

When the seller creates a label ebay tells the buyer the item has shipped.

Lay the blame where it belongs.

That said, I'm about to pack up 6 parcels from yesterday that won't actually be out for the carrier until Tuesday. The buyer will get a message that tells them they will ship Tuesday, but ebay will send an auto "shipped" message as soon as I create the label.

Am I supposed to wait until  Tuesday to do the labels?

No, but you could communicate with the buyers, thank them for their order and tell them how creating a label generates a "shipped" notice from eBay and since Monday is a Postal Holiday you will be delivering the packages to the USPS then.

But then again why would you want to communicate with buyers as you might set "buyer expectations" and we all know an informed buyer is.......

extreme sarcasm warning in this last part.

Re: Shipping dates

This is an ebay message issue.  Sellers don't write the verbiage.  Having said that, you should be given an estimated delivery date and that is what is important in case you don't receive your item.  The date that gets recorded for mailing doesn't have anything to do with your ability to file a case for non-delivery.  Your protection is secure regardless of this---it can only hurt the the seller.

Re: Shipping dates

As long as you get your stuff by the date specified, in good condition, you shouldn't worry if the seller shipped it that morning... it's nothing to you.

Re: Shipping dates

I do...simply because Usps says the labels must be used the day they are meant to be uses-ie: the day they were printed. Besides, I use bulk shipping so all my labels for the day have one barcode.

Re: Shipping dates

I just printed a shipping label for Tuesday.  I entered the shipping date as Tuesday, but yes, it seems ebay may have reverted back to sending their "Your item has shipped" emails based on your complaint.  We complained mightily about that because of posts like yours, and were told they changed the verbiage to something about a label has been printed.  Maybe you could kindly post what message you received.

Anyway, back to why I printed my label today (Sunday), when obviously I can't ship today, or even tomorrow, since it is a postal holiday.   I live where power outages are common, and especially common, when a big snow and ice storm is expected overnight and tomorrow.  I once had no power for 9 days.  When that happened, I told myself I wouldn't get caught with packages needing labels again if I had the opportunity to print.   I'm sorry if this annoys my buyers (although none have complained), but I like getting packages mailed on time and I do so however I can.

Re: Shipping dates

Both, buyers and sellers have been complaining about this for years.

It's Ebay that tells you your item has been shipped, not the seller.

Have a great day.

Re: Shipping dates

Didn't I already say I send them a message with the shipped email telling them that?

Re: Shipping dates

Rubbish. Do you not think I change the label date to the date they'll actually be mailed?

Re: Shipping dates

I complained, because not only does the buyer get a 'shipped' message, the order is marked shipped on the seller side.

What was explained to me is "the shipping process has begun" therefore the 'shipped date' gets updated to that date.

I saw the same thing on another site when I purchased from them.  It was actually 2 days before it physically shipped.

I can print this label now. Sunday. Monday is a Holiday.

Must I take it to USPS for a scan now?

If so, why am I am being given a choice of Tue...  Wed..... Thur...   Fri.  the date that will appear on the label?
