I am new to eBay and have had a buyer question why their shipping increased after purchase. I am trying to find out why this happened myself. They are being charged as much for the shipping as they paid for the product. The original listing has shipping at $9.00. They were charged $20. Does anyone have any similar issues and what did you have to do? Thank you for any help in advance.

Looking at your Care Bears recent sale, I see calculated shipping to Huntsville AL at $9.05. To me in CA, I see $20.40.
Your buyer may have erroneously had an incorrect zip code in when he was looking at the item but then when he made the purchase, ebay put in his correct zip code and recalculated the shipping. You can check the correct shipping price by looking at the original listing and putting in the buyer's zip code.
Another possibility is that the buyer changed the delivery address after buying the item but before paying for it.
The price of the item and the price of the shipping have nothing to do with each other.

I'm confused....So the shipping cost increased? I doubt it would go up that much. Maybe there are Fees included too depending on the shipping provider?
Im bumping to see if anyone might have an idea. Im stumped lol

Thanks! I appreciate any input. It automatically put it USPS priority. She didn’t mention any other fees. I think it is because of the priority mail. I just did not think buyers had to accept just any shipping cost.

What I see on the listing definitely looks strange to what you are saying. I see $28 bid + $11.10 shipping. (EDIT: I see now it's still calculating shipping TO ME, even when it's a SOLD item, which isn't good) Which isn't out of the realm of possibility for Priority mail. Remember that Calculated shipping will produce different values depending on where the item is going. What you might think something costs to ship will be different depending on the Zone.
Did you do something like set it to USPS First Class and then put your real weight? First Class doesn't allow anything < 1lb and perhaps the system might have sanity-checked what you entered?
For your other question, the buyer basically does have to accept what the shipping cost is if they purchase the item, unless you allow them a choice of service upon check out.
