Hi Ebay community. I had almost the same problem about two months ago where I was doing my daily buying spree on ebay and bidding on items I was interested. After bidding 1.29$ on a ring what said +FREE shipping, I stayed on this auctions page to look if someone would outbid me. After the last seconds I won the auction and immediatley proceeded to pay but than it showed added +19.99$ shipping. I was very confused couse I was only 1 month buying and doing bids on ebay.
Either I didnt want any problems with my account because of a canceled item, So I didnt think much and paid those 1.29$+19.99$ shipping and messaged the seller about this price change. At the end he offered me a refund and I gave him 5 strar feedback anyway - later Iv read some negative feedbacks left from others to that seller with same issue where there was even shipping costs from free shipping to 29.99$ added after sale ended!
Anyway happy ending for both of us.
After this happened to me I started to take a screenshots on items before I bid, and in middle of auction so I have some kinda of evidence if same happens again.
But after a two months I got tired of taking screenshots couse all auctions ended well without any prices changing with successfully buying and receiving 300+ items.
Only positive 5 star feedbacks left.
Yesterday I done some bidding on interesting items for good prices but being lazy I didnt look at how much stars does sellers have either I didnt take screenshots of item prices before my bid or after my bid.
I cant believe my eyes what happened!
I did bid on a light bulb 3.43$ +FREE shipping what seemed a good price for a light bulb, and after bid I continued to look and do bidding on other items for a time.
After about half hour later I checked my bids and offers and the light bulb for 3.43$ had now a shipping 3.00$!!! With my eyes wide open I instantly took a screenshot, couse my logical mind was telling me that shipping was free when I did bid.
Minute later shipping cost 3$ was gone!!!! And there was no shipping costs for this light bulb anymore.
I waited for auction to end couse I wanted to pay for this bulb as fast as possible so it doesnt happen the same as with ring.
At the end price changed from $ to £.
But after auction ended I wasnt able to proceed to pay couse-"This seller didn't include shipping costs to your location. Please contact the seller or change your...etc"
I messaged the seller, and reqested a total +with added message. Ok its only next day and its sunday, so ill wait for his replay two more days.
I realy love ebay service and community and I dont want to screw my account reputation couse Im planning to keep doing business with ebay and be a good seller in future.
I need help.
What should I do? What do I do if the seller will add 20£ shipping after I requested total?
Can he increase grand total more than 3.43$+3$??
What I do if he doesnt respond to my messages?
Can I ask him to cancel this order without getting my account banned from doing auctions?
This is depressing, it looks like the only way to do bidding is taking screenshots before, in middle and after bidding. Now after this I will stress on every bid I make.
I will be more careful to bid on items from sellers with less stars.
