Hello,

Question:  Does anyone know how and why the USPS decides if an item will have fewer tracking updates?

This refers to items shipped 'Ebay Standard Envelope.'

When this happens it negatively affects my seller account.

Is there anything I can do about it?

I don't think ebay/USPS is fully honoring their contract.

What good is a tracking number if the USPS decides not to track it?

I am having this problem as well. I have two different items to different sellers that haven't had updated shipping in WEEKS. Both of the buyers are getting impatient. I'm almost at the point of telling them to contact eBay/open a case so that they jump on it  or can offer more details. I feel bad as I've done everything I need, but the buyer deserves to receive their items.

Ebay Standard Envelope only gets scanned when it runs through machines. So no acceptance scan or accurate delivery scan. It's just a risk you have to take that might be worth it for 57 cent postage on cheaper cards you'd otherwise never sell with $4 First Class Package postage.
