Just sold a $4k piece of computer equipment, when I went to shipping labels there was no option for adding insurance! What happened? It gave me the option of "declared value" of a $1000...If shipment is damaged I'm out $3K and that's IF they pay out on the declared value? How do people insure their shipments?

Usually its near the bottom of the list of stuff when buying a label (go past all the carrier choices). I was able to add insurance to a sale just last night. Along with requiring a signature, which I highly suggest for that item.
That said, some may have a limit on how much insurance you can buy.

I was looking at FedEx and UPS, USPS will do the insurance but they would be my last choice

I went down the page all it offered was a “declared value” fixed at $1000. And the signature option

That ^^^ has been my experience and would be my advice for the OP. Admittedly, the verbiage "declared value" threw me... where is the shipment going, @exoticpub? 🤔

I was pricing FedEx and UPS, going to New Jersey from the west coast….
