I'm a new seller and I realize this sounds bizarre, but with every description I put up for my sales, when I enter the shipping dimensions and I check back later to view my listings, they change! The weight changes as well. I have to correct them and once I do, they stay the same. (Thus far.)
Has this happened to anyone else? What am I doing incorrectly or is it Gremlins?

Is there any documentation regarding this? Not saying you're wrong, quite the opposite as I am grateful to know that there's a method to the madness - I feel like this should be told to sellers somewhere though!

how do they change? are you entering 4.2 ounces and it changes to 5? 10 1/2" changes to 11?

Is it changing as in (for example) you enter dimensions '12 x 3 x 2' and save and then go back to edit and it's saying something like '3 x 12 x 2'?
Because if it is what I just described, it has been happening to me as well. Just gotta wait for eBay to fix it I assume, at least you can change the dimensions right before you print the label.

eBay labels runs the dimensions in the opposite direction from how USPS wants them/does them.

There is a quirk when you list on the eBay website @emilyhpr651. It's kinda hard to describe, but some fields trigger the listing form to save.
The best example I can give:
Upload a bunch of photos. While the photos are in the process of uploading, enter or change the UPC.
Updating the UPC field will automatically trigger the listing form to save which means any other field that was in process and not yet saved will drop the data. In terms of photos, it will stop the upload with the last pic that went through successfully.
This same thing can happen if you enter shipping info too quickly while the listing form is in the process of saving after you enter description, price, etc. So if the form is in the process of saving it will revert back any fields that weren't entered before the save started.
I don't know if I explained that well enough for you to grasp without seeing it in action, but I think there's a good chance that's what's happening with your listings. So next time, wait a beat for the form to save after entering price before moving down to package info. Make sure the package info "takes" before submitting the listing live.

Are you using sell one like or from a listing template?
12-28-2021 12:28 PM
No...not using a template. What's really odd is it's continually doing this after I revise it. I'm entering the info the same the priority mail box I got from the post office has the dimensions listed: Height first, then width, and length last.
The correct dimensions (in inches) on this example are: 12.0 X 3.5 x 14. Here are some screen shots. I checked it every time I revised it and it changed the dimensions. P.s. Are dimensions even necessary as long as I have tge weight if the box? I see there's a box we can check that reads "I don't know the package details. " I'm wanting to send this calculated shipping. Changed to different numbers after I revised it

I took some screenshots in the last reply to my question.

I'm a bit confused on what you mean by UPC. (Bar code product?) Do I even really need to enter the package dimensions? I replied to the last response I got. Are able to see my response there?
Thanks much!

Hi there.. I added some screenshots in the last response I got to my question.

Dimensions are required for calculated shipping because they can affect postage costs. For instance, Priority Mail has (1) a "dimensional surcharge" for packages with a volume greater than 1 cubic foot (1728 cubic inches); and (2) a maximum length-plus-girth of 108 inches.

I think that @wastingtime101 is saying that if you are revising something or entering something new such as adding pictures, make sure that the first process is finished before you enter something else. Otherwise, some data could be lost or changed.
This has nothing to do with the numbers changing but wanted to comment.....It sounds as if you are entering the same dimensions that is given on the box. I don't use USPS boxes but generally any dimensions on a box are for the inside measurements so in some cases those inside measurements are not accurate. That's way I always measure the box myself just before printing the label.

Do you have a computer you can use? Or a tablet that can access the classic site?
It looks like you're on the mobile site so you might be seeing a glitch that's specifically tied to the mobile site.

Sorry, these forums don't show me messages from time to time.
Definitely not what's happening to me, for me it's an issue of (using your screenshot numbers) if I enter dimensions as '12 x 3.5 x 15' and save/post listing, then go back and edit the listing the package numbers will display as '15 x 12 x 3.5' or '3.5 x 15 x 12', ect.
Your issue...I can't say I've seen yet, so I can't give any definitive solutions right now 😥
