Buyer shipped via Fed Ex to the wrong address. I got an email saying it was delivered to front porch. I immediately walked outside, but no package. Called Fed Ex for 2 days, and told package was not shipped to my name or my address or zip code. The only thing my address has in common is the city and state. Of course, FedEx won’t give me the name or address it was sent to stating it’s against privacy rules. On my eBay account, the tracking says delivered to my city and state, but with the wrong zip code. My correct mailing address is on my eBay account and PayPal account. I’ve lived her 20 years. It seems EBay could quickly see it wasn’t delivered to right zip code. Also, the dimensions and weight of the package are totally off. Dimensions are approx letter size package and weighing 4 pounds. I ordered 2 bike ramps with a 40 inch grinder rail that holds 175 pounds. No way it’s even what I ordered. My first open case was closed in favor of seller because tracking says it was delivered. I am appealing and have been told to obtain a police report. Does this sound right?

Get a statement from Fedex with the zip code it was delivered to.

Dispute the charge with your bank. Or PayPal, if that's how you paid.

You don't need a police report. What the Blues have said on these threads is that your need a letter on FedEx letterhead signed by an employee, with employee's phone number so that eBay can call and verify. Letter needs to contain the tracking number and the location where the item was scanned as "delivered." FE can get that from the GPS data they have on record. Calling probably won't get you the letter, going in person and talking to the manager should work.
IF you can provide this letter to eBay they will protect you under the MBG and issue you a refund.
This is a common scam: send something worthless to a business in the same zip code. Tracking shows delivered and thus the seller can argue buyer has it or it was stolen off of buyer's porch. In this instance, you have to do the legwork to prove you didn't get it.
Also because every shipping company is slammed right now and all the shippers use temporary employees during the holidays, it is possible a temp worker messed up and delivered package to wrong place. But again, you need to prove to eBay it was misdelivered.

Your seller didn't ship anything, @thetalesof7.
They just stole the tracking number of a FedEx package that was already headed to your city/state, then uploaded that stolen tracking number to stand in as your package since eBay/PayPal only look at the city/state as proof of delivery for UPS/FedEx shipments.
When this happened to me, I started a Missing Parts or Pieces return request since a The UPS Store showed me it was another weight, name, and address, so my actual item was missing. When the seller let 3 days pass without responding to the return request, eBay automatically stepped in and forced a refund:
In some instances, we may not require that an item be returned to the seller. In these situations, we refund the buyer and may seek reimbursement from the seller, for example if:
- The seller chooses not to accept a return request
- The seller did not provide a return shipping label
But in your case, since you filed the wrong case and lost, you can still go back after you lose the case and start a return request afterwards -- see the rectangles:
And if your seller issues a return label, affix the return label to a box and send back what you received, to get your full refund after the return label is delivered, address unknown, or return to sender.
