In this insane year of 2020 it would be really nice if EBAY added 2 weeks to the time a buyer has to wait before filing an "Item not received" claim. And sure, they can certainly extend the time they have for returns as well. As a consumer as well as a seller I have not complained to anyone I've bought from online this season for slow shipping. Unfortunately some things will not make it to me for Christmas. But I'm not going to penalize sellers for logjams at USPS. How about helping out your sellers (For once) and throwing us this one bone. I've sold things and warned people in advance about Very slow shipping, yet they have still opened cases after a mere 11 days. Not enough when delivery times in some areas are running closer to 2 or 3 weeks!

I’m a buyer and have several items in postal limbo. I understand none of these are the sellers fault, but pretty soon I am going to have to file INR cases because of the eBay 30day limit. I think your request is reasonable.
FYI I purchased 12 items since 12/4 and only received 2. Ironically they were 2 that did not have tracking

Maybe those sellers dropped them off in your mail box in person lol.

That 10 day extension for buyers to ask ebay to step in is a crock too. I just had a buyer able to ask ebay to step in 8 days after the latest tracking scan... an they won and got their refund. Hey ebay, I thought you assured us buyers aren't able to do this until 10 days after latest tracking scan. eBay Christmas 2020 Free Item Giveaway.
So even if ebay agrees to your extensions, they aren't even going to enforce them.

They should make a moratorium on all INR cases for 30 days, extend returns for buyers as well (of course can return earlier).
In any INR cases should inform the buyer of their responsibility to return the item or refund the seller if the item arrives. If eBay forces a refund in an INR and the item arrives and not returned or buyer refunded, eBay should refund the seller.

It seems like they are. eBay extended a case I opened till almost a month after I ordered the thing, even though this was well before USPS started having issues with delays. They said they were waiting on seller info. I didn't really mind, but it's kind of annoying because I doubt the same efforts would go to smaller sellers. This seller must be a rip-off seller based in China to get this kind of eBay help. You know, the ones with 94.5% positive feedback that don't even send the thing out half the time.

Not really. I've had 2 people open cases only 11 days after purchase. Looks the same to me. I want them to delay the opening of the case not to extend the time the case can be open. An opened case is still an opened case. Don't want them on my record. It's not fair considering the circumstances.

I hear you and agree. I am a buyer as well as a seller and am waiting on things too. But I will definitely wait until the last minute to file a claim. As a seller when you send messages along with shipping info asking the buyer for patience because of USPS delays and they go ahead and still file a claim righrt away it's pretty frustrating. Fortunately most people seem to be very good about this so far but it's only going to take a handful of claims to drain my weekly funds on hand with Ebay. I liked Paypal better as I would have left more funds available to draw from. With Ebay they insist on sending the funds every week.

They have to wait a week though before getting money back. I don't think it used to be that long.
I've only opened two cases recently. Neither showed that they had even been shipped out/received by the carrier (and it was after the est. delivery time).
As long as the package is showing movement, I don't worry about it. I have two orders out in which the buyer could probably open a case at this point. Neither has contacted me. I've been diligently tracking both of them. It's when they stop showing movement that I start to worry.
