ShipCover Insurance Question

I purchased ShipCover Insurance on a media mail item.  Media Mail rate was $4.16, ShipCover was $1.70.

The breakdown isn't listed anywhere. Here is the transaction detail screenshot.  Is the breakdown shown elsewhere and I'm not seeing it?  For those who sell a lot and buy insurance, how do you remember which you purchased insurance on?  TIA

ShipCover Insurance Question

I use a 3rd party to buy most of my shipping and they show the breakdown on everything.

I checked an old eBay label with insurance from last year and the breakdown was shown in the e-mail confirmation - not sure if they still do that.

If it was USPS insurance, not ShipCover insurance, you can see it on the USPS tracking page under product details.

Short of that, you can tell from the price you paid. Compare the rates to the USPS DMM chart.

How much was the book valued at?

Just a note for consideration.  Take a look at ShipSaver.  I have found it overall cheaper and easier to use, especially for claims.  https://www.shipsaver.com/

ShipCover Insurance Question

Why would you insure a $34.00 item when the insurance cost is $1.70? The odds of item getting lost are a lot less than 1 in 20. I would just self insure.

Because I'd be that 1 in 20.  Also, doesn't insurance cover breakage, not just loss?

In theory, yes. In practice, almost never. They generally cite 'insufficient packaging' and deny the claim.
