Set up an intermediary to verify items that are returned as not as described

Can we petition to make ebay create a physical intermediary to physically check that items people recieve, then use, then return and claim not as described, are True or false. And perhaps warn buyers that they cant lie to return items or they will be restricted! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SELLER PROTECTION WITHOUT THIS .

then you are also forced to  provide free return shipping , and the item is perfectly as described, and you lose every time in dispute

That would probably cost sellers at least 10 times as much as is currently lost to "defective returns".

As nice as that would be, it would be quite expensive and eBay would never dip into their profits to help their sellers. I have begun slapping tamper evident stickers with serial numbers on everything.

this has been suggested a million times and the fact is it's just not feasible. You would have to hire thousands of experts in every single category.

Who do you think would pay for that the buyer? No it would be the seller.

eBay would also need to set up a verification center for EVERY SINGLE ITEM SOLD, just in case the buyer decided to claim not as described.  Because eBay would need verifiable proof of condition of item as sent.

How many items are sold on eBay daily?  How many are returned?  Let's keep it simple and go with just your suggestion for the moment, ignoring the need for verification of what the seller sent in the first place.  Facilities would be needed to handle this volume.  Employees would be need to handle this volume.  Experts would be needed in every field of items sold here.

How about you ask everyone who signs the petition whether they are willing to fund the creation and operation of this system?

Re: Set up an intermediary to verify items that are returned as not as described

1. It's going to cost a lot of money. Who is going to pay those people? Who is going to cover shipping to them and then from them to original seller?

2. Amazon does something like that. Some categories have "application fee". For example if you want to sell fine (gold, silver, diamonds..) jewelry you need to pay $2,500 to be able to sell it. Those money go to testing. Amazon randomly buyes your jewelry, tests it and then returns it. And if you claimed it to be 14K gold and it's not they will permanently ban your account. But then not every Joe can sell expensive gold items on Amazon. Only professional sellers.

Yep.

Let's think about that for a minute ...

First, the item would need to be verified by the intermediary when the seller first ships the item. And then be re-verified on the return.

Otherwise, how does the itermediary know what the seller shipped?

And the intermediary would have to be an expert on the item to verify that the seller did indeed Title and Describe the item correctly to begin with.

This would create huge shipping delays and a serious increase in the chance of damage done to the item by packing, unpacking, handling and repacking the item.... in 2 directions.

And the cost of this would be huge ... who is going to pay these intermediaries. Who is going to pay for the doubled shipping costs?

Yet counterfeit are just as common on Amazon as they are here go figure.

andpor-95   I have talked nember  of   upper managment reps  and 2  upper Ceoo type's for  seller  support issues.   They have all  stated  that  majordy  of snads where  phony  just to get  free return shipping  at the seller's expence  .And the other issue is the poorly written  MBG  which is their one size fits all ,which  needs to be dumped  do to  verys  types items  sold that can't  be returned once the buyer used the item.

AS YOU SHOULD KNOW EBAY COULD CARE LEES ABOUT THE SELLERS.  WITHOUT A TRUE FEEDBACK PROCESS YOU ARE LEFT HOLDING THE BAG.

Silly to think you could hire thousands of experts on everything and have them on call.
