Selling difficult

Hello

I sold an item to a customer, however, the post office delayed shipping. The buyer opened a case on ebay and they were refunded by ebay. The item got delivered after the cased was closed.  I am unsure what to do next?

I have no payment for the item and I also dont have them item.

Thanks

All you can do is send the buyer an invoice.

@clothesonsales

What you could do in the future, when a package gets stuck, is start a search using the USPS Missing Mail procedures:

https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm

Often I just go to my local PO and talk to the carrier Supervisor who looks in the USPS intranet and finds more detailed tracking information. On occasion he has called the receiving PO or issued the search.  However, that may not be "procedure" and may require finesse to initiate.

IF the value of the item is large enough and you are in the INR process, it might make sense to spend $14.10 to attempt to retrieve the package using the USPS Package Intercept Service:

https://retail-pi.usps.com/retailpi/actions/index.action

But at this point one is at the mercy of the the buyer and their conscience to do the right thing and pay an invoice you send or return the item.

You should call eBay and file an appeal. If the package shows it was delivered to the buyer, you should win the case and the buyer will be billed by eBay. You have up to 30 days to appeal a decision.

I did file an appeal and ebay still didn't ruled in my favour.

Did you try sending an invoice to the buyer?

If not or if that doesn't work, then unfortunately you'll have to chalk it up as tuition paid in the school or eBay selling.

Hope the advice above helps you avoid paying more tuition.  At least you found these boards and a place to come for help when 'stuff' happens!

When did ebay start this policy of billing buyers?

What you should do if you get no response from the buyer is file a complaint with the buyer's local police department and/or your local police.

Its called theft and mail fraud if the buyer does not pay for the item or send it back.

They don't.  The person who posted that was incorrect.
