Sellers keep on switching to media mail despite description?

So I've had three sellers recently ship items through media mail (based on the tracking number info) despite the listing's description and shipping method stating "Standard Shipping (USPS First Class Package) ." One of them even listed "free expedited shipping" and "Shipped with Priority Mail" and it nevertheless went through media mail.

Is there something I'm missing/misinterpreting? Do some sellers simply forget the shipping speed promised or don't think the buyer will notice? Would it be in poor taste to leave a neutral review?

You might try inquiring from the seller. It could be an honest listing error that they might want to look at. There should also be a "shipping time" star. If the item is beyond its shipping time and media mail, I'd consider appropriately choosing a lower value star. That said, it is against eBay policy to select a slower shipping method than the one chosen by the buyer. https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/shipping-policy?id=5035&st=3&pos=6&query...  also "Sellers must use the shipping service the buyer selected during eBay checkout."

You were promised priority mail & didn't receive what you paid for & were promised.

Did the seller apologize & offer you a partial refund of the shipping cost or has the seller pocketed the cost difference ?

Feedback left should be appropriate & fact based

I offer free shipping on my listings and they always default first class. If there is a huge difference in shipping costs i will change method to media mail. I've only had one person have an issue with that because his package got delayed. I offered to refund his shipping cost but he wanted me to refund the whole deal. When I said no that was unfair I got a negative mark,  My only one.

My advice

When your listing states first class mail shipping, ship first class mail

This would be upsetting to me too. 1st class is a quick ship method. Media is riding on a turtles' back. Yes, after pointing it out to the seller & awaiting his answer, you may need to leave a neutral. Other buyers appreciate this info!

@thefluffycactus

You'd be within your rights to open a SNAD. I think a neutral review is very kind. Good luck!

This may or may not be what's happened, but I've had to void and redo a couple of labels lately where the ebay label page defaulted to MM and I didn't notice until after I printed it.

Maybe the seller doesn't know (or didn't want to) how to void and redo?

I did wonder if it was some kind of default setting since it was not just one or two sellers who'd done this and their past reviews did not give any indication of intentionally choosing slower shipping. This is why, ultimately, since everything else was fine, I decided to leave a positive review with a comment to revise their listing's shipping to media mail 🙂
