Seller sent wrong item, wants to replace with another, won't accept return request

Hi, recently I bought an expensive lot of a product from E-bay seller ($445) and they sent me the wrong item from a different listing.  I contacted them and said I needed to return the item, and used the Return option on the purchase page to initiate the return.  Today I get a message from seller claiming they did send me the right item but the "pictures were old" and offering me replacement of other items that I don't want and can't use.  Since they don't ship through E-bay's payment program I have no return shipping label option to use.  I don't care overmuch about the shipping cost to return but I am concerned that this seller is going to be highly resistant to refunding my money on such a large purchase.  I note that once you select the "Return this Item" function there is no record of having done so and the item does not show up on the "Returned Items" page at all, and also disappears from your Purchase history.   I gather from this that the seller did not accept the return formally, or E-bay would have notified me.   Should I just go straight to PayPal to request the refund?  I am mailing the product back to the seller well within one week from arrival...................Sue

" Since they don't ship through E-bay's payment program "

I do not understand what this even means.
But if what you ordered does not match what you recieved, and the seller is giving you the runaround, stop talking to them, and file an "Item not as described" return case. Follow the instructions and dates closely.

When did you place the order?

When was the estimated delivery date?

If it's been longer then 30 days past the estimated delivery date, you'll have to file a claim on Pay Pal if that's how you paid.

Have a great day.

Re: Seller sent wrong item, wants to replace with another, won't accept return request

After you start a return, the item will no longer be shown on the "Orders" section of your purchase history. If you scroll down, you should find it lower on the page in a section called "Returns and canceled orders." This confused me once too. As for the seller not accepting, if you opened the return case as "Item not as described" or "Wrong item sent," he doesn't have a choice. eBay allows sellers a certain number of days to take action on a return request, and if they fail to do so, you can ask them to step in. They should have sent you a message saying when you could ask them to step in and help. That message will also contain a link to the return request.

An alternate way of finding the return request is to go to the resolution center. Under "I bought an item," select "I received an item that does not match the seller's description." Click continue. You will now be able to select the item. If a return already exists, it will inform you of such and give you a link to check the details. Hope this helps.
