Seller received my return and opened a case with no reason stated

I had a Return request opened after receiveing from a seller a musical instrument that had blemishes I didn't expect. I promptly sent the instrument back to him after the seller reluctantly accepted my return. Seller was less than cooperative all the way and tried to refuse my return, he didn't reply to my messages etc. Everything was forced by eBay.

Yesterday the tracking indicated the seller received my return. I message to him: Please proceed to refund. No response from him as usually.

Suddenly without notice I receive a message from eBay: 'The seller has asked us to step in and help with...'.

At the same time my Return request turns into a case with no reason stated with the notice from eBay: 'Wait we are still reviewing your case'.

What could happend to my Return request and why?

As far as the seller's objection, while I know you would have like to know what that was, probably you really wouldn't like what it was.

This can happen if it was damaged in shipment back to the seller.  Just as the seller is responsible for getting the item to the buyer in the condition it was described, the buyer has the same responsibility to the seller.  Sometimes this gets forgotten about.  I'm not saying that is what is going on here, I'm just saying it could be.

The seller really didn't retain their high rating in ebay's eyes. Because they challenged the refund, they would have a received an unresolved case defect and there is only a small amount of those that a seller can get without being penalized.

And you know what? - I'm too tired of this transaction to think of it any further and as such I'm just going to forget it and move on. So the seller retains his high rating... and thatr's how they get it.

You don't have to let him retain his high rating.  I know you are tired and I totally understand that, but it just takes a few seconds to leave the appropriate feedback.

Thank you my friends for your support!

However, regarding "leaving a red donut" - you know what ???

I can't physically do that! - Once the case was closed I can't see the original transaction anywhere in my purchase historry! There is none in my 'Return items' (neither Hidden, nor Not Hidden). I tried a few shortcuts to get to the page but there is no way to leave feedback as the item pade with 'feedback' option disappeared completely.

That's interesting.

Re: Seller received my return and opened a case with no reason stated

Thanks, I didn't know it was so "easy" but why did the transaction disappear from my account?

Before the case was closed I could clearly see 'Items to leave feedback for(1)' - or something like that on the left. Once the case closed that reminder disappeared along with any sign that that transaction ever existed at all.

It's still one month left to leave feedback.

To see a "returned for SNAD" item - go to your main page, click on "account" and then look on the left for "feedback" - click that to show ALL the transactions in the last few months that you did not leave FB for yet.  Be TRUTHFUL in your FB - no language etc.  This can protect the rest of us from those few bad sellers who clearly LIE in thier ads .  I would NOT ding normal annoyances- used is used and has flaws whether the seller thought it was worth showing/disclosing or even noticed it or not - just ding bald faced LIES in the ad.
