I bought a PC, it worked for a matter of hours. I purchased other items in order to test the system (a new monitor and some cables) but it was dead. I returned the item using their free-post label, packed it carefully as it came, adding more tape and plastic sheeting to stop water ingress. I emailed them to confirm they had received the item and they responded saying yes but there is a problem, the item was damaged in the post and you have caused damage internally by incorrectly installing a graphics card. They have provided some pictures but could have easily done this 'damage' themselves. There are no photos of the box/packaging being damage. The photographic 'evidence' suggests that the front panel has popped outwards which I think should be almost impossible. I did not open the case, knowing full well that this might void any sort of warranty. They have offered a partial refund, now why would they do this having claimed that I tampered with it? Obviously, I would like a full refund. Any help would be appriciated.

You have posted on the US board, where water may not flow the same way as in your kingdom, so its suggested that you ask your question on your board, sorry.

First step is to file an item not as described case in the resolution center. Link at bottom of page.

As you see, over here we "file an item not as described case in the resolution center" after you've already returned the item and the seller has already received it back, which logically, over there in your kingdom, you wouldn't do.
Hence the "water does not flow the same way here": Our rules are very different.

Relax. Maybe it was damaged in shipment but since it was an eBay return label it is out of the sellers control. They are probably trying to get it resolved so eBay can file the insurance claim, etc... You will get the money back.

As you clearly see now, we don't know how eBay works. You would be best served to ask your question on your board where the responders are likely more learned.
eBay has taught time and again that whoever pays for shipping is responsible for the transit e.g. here and here:
Happy to clarify that insurance for the return would be for the seller's benefit
The person that pays for the label is responsible for what happens in transit. If the seller provides the funds for the buyer to purchase, the seller is still responsible. This is how we have decided claims in the past and that will continue going forward.

I'll assume that the claim was already filed before you returned the item. Sellers can give a partial refund in some cases however the buyer can appeal that and when they do, ebay is likely to refund the amount owed.

That's not how it works. eBay doesn't file insurance claims just because a label was printed through ebay.
