Shipped a Bose system to buyer. Buyer msg’s that he contacted Bose to iron out connectivity issue and was told the system purchased was not compatible with his TV. Buyer says he is very sorry, but he would like to return it. I say fine we accept returns and how to proceed with it. Buyer sees a few options that will cost him to return and a few that cost him nothing. Guess which one he chooses?
All correspondence clearly indicate buyer remorse but buyer claimed SNAD ‘Defective’ to swindle me out of $150 shipping. Contacted CSR to review the claim and CSR agreed with me, ‘BUT’ because buyer claimed SNAD there was nothing she could do! I took exception (calmly) to that statement and explained that several times in the past 22yrs eBay has closed cases in my favor for this ‘exact’ reason so would she be able to show me the new policy that replaced the old one. Of course there isn’t one so she continued reading from her script and said she would do me a ‘Favor’ that when the item was returned eBay would refund me the return shipping and I would only lose the original $105 $60 shipping + $45 packing. THANKS AGAIN eBay for another example of failing to enforce you own policy’s!

good luck with that return shipping refund....
the csr's are know to lie, give false information just to get you off the phone.

I only buy on eBay, but I strongly dislike that people are allowed to cheat sellers. It's sad that a buyer can openly admit in eBay messages that can be read by CS reps, the real reason they want to return but then when they realize they can avoid paying return shipping; select another reason.

Once you get the item back and refund, you can file an appeal and hope to get your return shipping back.
You can also report the buyer for abusing the MBG system.

In this particular case, the buyer is probably not that savvy. The problem with this return is that the buyer will select "Doesn't work or defective", and this seems perfectly descriptive of their problem ... they can't get it to work with their system.
The language of that particular return reason causes a lot of false SNADs, particularly for those sellers who sell auto parts - a buyer buys the wrong part, and of course it doesn't work with their car. So, does eBay have a return reason that says "bought the wrong part" or "Wrong part ordered"? Nope ... so the buyer typically chooses between "Doesn't work or defective" or "Wrong part sent", and the seller gets a SNAD and pays for shipping both ways.
This is not a new issue ... eBay just doesn't bother to improve the return reason language because false-SNADs cost them zero dollars.

here is the policy "
The buying practices policy outlines the type of behavior that we don't allow from buyers—such as making unreasonable demands of a seller, or taking advantage of the eBay Money Back Guarantee." I challenge anyone from eBay to dispute my claim!

They still can, they are told not to.

Sorry to hear your circumstance. I have had several situations like yours. Products that were factory new and returned torn packages, used, damaged...... EBay’s CSR are all scripted now. I was informed today that they have constantly made addendum policy changes to fit the "cost of doing business" platform. The CSR will no longer support seller protections issues to favor us for any refunds. They are there only to listen to our sob stories and preach the gospel and plug the seller protection 50% refund program. As a premium seller; I ran the numbers and this program will not cover the overall losses. Bottom line here is Ebay will chip away at our profits by selling other services.

They absolutely still can and have recently. I believe they sometimes let me win the small $ cases, but I have never won one above $50? What really burns me up is I never protest it unless it is a foolproof claim like this one and still get different results! **bleep** eBay?
