So a buyer returns an item all burnt up in side the box and smelling of cigarette smoke so bad I had to put item in a plastic bag in my garage.
So now i check out the electronic item and in side it was all burnt and non reparable.
Buyer leaves negative feed back saying i was rude. Never happened.
Buyer was swearing in his messaging and called the Ebay agent gay because he blasted the buyer for the returned item smelling of smoke. This was all told to ebay by me.
I call ebay 3 days in a row about this and wanting to dispute this return, Ebay tells me to wait 3 days and then call them for the dispute.
I get up Friday morning and see an email that ebay issued him a refund of $150.00 at 3am PST in the morning was the email time. I live on the east coast so im sound asleep at that time and never had a chance to call ebay to dispute as they told me 3 days in a row.
So now I call back Monday 2/2/2021 and a girl from Ireland spends about 45 minutes documenting this whole thing again and issued it to the return dispute department.
By the way ebay removed the negative feedback from the buyer.
I feel I got screwed by ebay not allowing to dispute this by refunding the buyer at 3am PST.
Has anyone gone through something like this with ebay screwing there sellers.
I have to say with the increased fees and some of the most F_____d rules for sellers Im trying to find a better way to sell my items off ebay site. Someone please enlighten me on other places please.
If i do not get my money back I will call the California attorney General to report this and what they did.
Ebay knows I live in the east coast EST zone but they issue a refund to buyer at 3Am PST CA time zone when im sound asleep. I told the ebay agent on that Thursday I would call Friday Morning when open at 5am PST my time 8EST to file the dispute. I never had a chance EBAY again you S___K big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I can suggest is that you revisit your Returns policy. I can see that you have TRS status... a 30-Day Return policy would have allowed you to reduce the amount of the buyer's refund (by up to 50%) when the buyer returns a different/destroyed/devalued item than the one you shipped. It doesn't make you whole, but takes the sting out a bit.
Be proactive... it's one of the last seller protections left; use it . Good luck with future sales.

Please come back to post an update after you contact the California Attorney General for your one sale and let everyone else know how that turned out. Best of luck to you....

Be respectful @dj56 when you direct that General's attention to the policy here to which you agreed with eBay. Also, be sure to ask about starting a class-act lawsuit.
For items where the buyer has uploaded tracking, if the seller doesn't issue a refund within 2 business days of the item's delivery to the seller, we will automatically issue the buyer a full refund on the seller's behalf. The seller will be required to reimburse us for such refunds.

@be_4101 - I don't feel I wrote anything disrespectful....I believe you meant to direct your comments to the OP....

I’ve been fortunate enough to encounter buyers of sufficient conscientiousness that I’ve avoided being excoriated in a transaction yet.
However, it’s all down to luck, and nothing at all to do with the integrity of eBay.
Personally, I hate selling on eBay, as it’s clearly a joke with me as the punchline.
I’ve just been very, very lucky with my buyers so far, but I do agree with your assessment of the place.

Something tells me they won't be back with an update.

eh, what I see here is a seller who is frustrated, upset and all emotional. Unfortunately emotions don't mix well with business.
It appears as though, in spite of being a TRS, that one does not understand the MBG process. Pretty specific how that works and it is all in writing for one to see. Nothing hidden. But replying on CS to guide you when something happens is not a good play - too many times one gets "any answer" rather than the right answer.
So why didn't you come here for advice and help from other sellers? This really is a good place to learn. But if your only use for the Community is to b*tch and moan, then so be it and I hope that relieves the stress from this situation.
Now if you read this far and are interested in what one can do when fraud happens, I'd be glad to share that with you - let me know.
Sorry about the bad situation and the stress!

My suggestion to you since you are Top Rated is to offer free returns for everything for 30 days. This doesn't guarantee you will never be scammed or have to deal with a bad buyer, but it does give you a few more protections against them. You have the ability to withhold up to 50% of the item's price if it is returned in a condition other than the way it was sent, but not to exceed the estimated cost of the loss of value. (They can still dispute it with PayPal or their credit card company). More importantly, you get a small discount on fees for top rated plus listing, you can usually charge a higher price for listings with free returns, and your items will sell faster generally. Top rated plus listings also give you SOME protections with returns if you just eat the loss and refund in full. For example, if the buyer opens a return for "Not as Described" and you get it back exactly as described, then the pertinent thing to would be to refund them IN FULL. You will also want to report them to eBay for it. eBay will review the report and if they see fit, will subsidize up to $6 of the return label cost, and remove the "Not as Described" ding from your service metrics percentage. Any negative feedback will automatically be removed as well. This is not ideal from a sellers standpoint, I understand that argument and frustration, but when it's all said and done, there is a certain structure in place that we do not control. All we can control is taking certain steps within that structure and free returns for top rated sellers is it.

go bother someone else with your post as i dont need any of your **bleep** hahaha.
im not frustrated just disappointing in ebay giving back the buyer his money back at 3am in the morning when I was told to call back at 8am the next day to dispute this **bleep**. So thats what im mad about how ebay handled this, 3 days of calling and told the same thing to call back after the 2 day return period and they screwed me.

OK, you want to get mad at me? You should have understood the MBG process, which clearly you didn't and you let your self get "scammed" by CS. Learn to take care of things yourself rather than relying on others.
But clearly an emotional response here. Guess you are not interested to learn other things you could do. So be it. Good luck!

Expecting good customer service from eBay is your biggest mistake.

If the feedback was unwarranted eBay will remove it. This has to something other than the buyers opinion. IE the buyer says you cussed them out and the eBay messages show other wise. From what I have read it is hard to get them to remove most feedback.
On a side note looking at your natural feedback your responses to those 2 neutral feedbacks you received do not really help you. They look like you are hard to deal with and give the impression that you offer bad customer service. Statements like, "Double bubble packing as all this ships in Such a petty whiner" are bound to drive potential customers away as they would not want to deal with a difficult seller if a issue comes up.
and for the statement, "call USPS for damage or send back I will repair for $30.00 cost u r Blocked now" If the post office damages a item you are always responsible. You usually will have to have the buyer return the item and issue the full refund to the buyer.. Then you will have to file a claim with USPS. If they rule you did not use sufficient packing material or too small of a package the claim will probably get closed out in their favor.
Also it is never a good idea to tell a buyer they have been blocked. Just add them to your blocked list and move on. Telling them that you blocked them just lets them know to use a different account.

Pal dont know what you are talking about you got the wrong feedback and you do a great job of twisting a post.
Ebay removed the negative feedback because the buyer was swearing and calling the ebay agent gay in his messaging to me for blasting him out about sending the item back to me smelling of cigarette smoke. Then I find out the item inside was all burnt from not hooking it up correctly and its non repairable. Your all missing my point of ebay doing business at 3am in the morning when im on the east coast sleeping.
Im sure you all would feel the same if Ebay did this to you and did not give you the chance to dispute the return to the buyer.
