I baought an item from korea through expideted shipping(fedex) and when the item arrive the total total cost of the item plus clearing customs racked up by almost x2
My question is this:
If i refuse to pay fedex to clear the items through customs and any additional fees, namely refusing to recieve the item, will that be considered as me returning the item as if it was in my possesion?
the seller asks me to pay for the return shipping costs becuase of his "buyer pays for return shipping" policy
so will i actually have to pay for the shipping based on ebay's rules in this case?
Thanks!

If you refuse the package you will lose your MBG protection. By refusing it, all you would be out is the original cost. I would assume that FedEx/customs would try to return it, but that's not guaranteed, they might just trash it.

If you send it back and do not bother paying Fedex they will simply send it to collection and your credit rating will all but disappear. Most listings say that customers are responsible for import charges.

You're responsible for the customs fees.

If you don't pay the customs fees that is counted a refusal of a package and voided your MBG.
Basically item goes back to seller and no refund for you. So seller gets their item back and gets to keep your money.

I have had FedEx drop the package at the door and got the bill in the mail. $26 on a $7 item. Good luck.

No, that would be considered as refusing the shipment and when you do, you loose your buyers protection.
FedEx will probably return the item to the seller and they'll keep the item and your money.

You must always be aware of any possible Customs fees which you are responsible for, this is standard throughout the world. Refusing the package negates your MBG, The package would most likely be returned to the seller but via snail mail.
You only pay for return shipping costs if you accept the package in the first place, rightly so, customs fees would not be refunded.

++++++++++++++++
They will also likely give your bill to a collection agency .

The package won't be returned. They just dispose of it. The shipper has to pay extra if they want it back. Just what was the item? Some are more trouble to clear and the express shipping also needed special customs inspection and not just placed in the pile to be looked at.
