This is a member-to-member discussion board for eBay users, so we cannot help you here. Alas, your money is probably gone. Here's a link to an eBay page about gift card scams with a link at the top, which might be able to help.

Tis the season.

Scams should be reported to the correct Police agency.

@giscor_86 Hopefully you won't let it happen again

How?

Report the item on the website where you found it.

Did you find a motor vehicle you wanted to buy on another site, like CL?
Were you told to buy the gift cards and give the seller the numbers, having been assured that the seller won't redeem the cards til he knew you were satisfied with the vehicle, which was going to be delivered to you for a 7-10 day trial period at the seller's expense?
There is no easy way to tell you this, but you were scammed. EBay has nothing at all ever to do with things being sold on other sites. This has been a very common scam for a long time. Sorry to report that eBay had nothing at all to do with this and there is no way for you to be refunded.
Gift cards are like cash money. When they are gone, they are gone and they are untraceable.

Once you give out the card numbers, your money is gone. No way to recover it. Sorry I don't have better news. I assume you found a car for sale on another site? They told you they would "use" eBay so you would be protected. You then received an "official" notice to purchase gift cards?
A very common scam. Many stores have warning notices by their gift card displays warning of this.

Hi @giscor_86
I'm so sorry this happened. I assume the scam involved your finding an item on another website, and the seller claimed that eBay would be involved in shipping the item. You then received a 'fake invoice' from eBay that said that you must pay with gift cards.
We hear about this scam daily. It's very 'popular' and has been going on for years. Many have been scammed the way you were.
The unfortunate part is that there is no way to get your money back once you've given someone the codes off a card. Again, I'm so sorry this happened and wish I could offer some hope.

Well, that is a shame. So sorry this happened to you. You're also a bit wiser, since you realize you were victimized. Godspeed.

Sorry that happened to you.
If you can return and let us know what happened, you will perform a valuable service to others so that they also do not become victims.
Far too many posters come on and inform us that they were scammed, but do not give details of who, what, where or when, and those details have intrinsic value to this community!
