Refund processing behavior?

I got approved to return an item I bought from a seller for a full refund. Sent the item out, it got delivered. Got an Email from service@paypal.com that says the seller issued a refund on Aug 9 (2 days ago). If I go into ebay, I can see a message in my inbox that says "you got a refund". In the message contained a Paypal transaction number. When I click on it, it redirects me to a Paypal error page.

I paid for the item through Paypal using my Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card as my preffered default payment method (its strictly a CC, NOT a debit card).

I dont see any pending transactions in my Freedom Unlimited account activity, I see no mention of the refund anywhere within Paypal, and Paypal balance remains unchanged.

What is going on? You'd think there would be a "Pending" status in either Chase or Paypal. But nothing... Is this normal?

Re: Refund processing behavior?

If the refund was processed today, it may take a day or two (2) to show up on your cc account.  I do not think that it immediate, so give it a couple of days.  Hope this helps 🙂

Re: Refund processing behavior?

As others have said, it can take 2-4 days for the refund to show up on a credit card. Credit Cards are processed once per night, and not on weekends.

Re: Refund processing behavior?

Today is August 9, not 2 days ago.

The refund goes to your credit card, not to Paypal funds.  Contact your credit card company tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday.  The transaction should process within a couple of days.

Much depends on the origin of the refund.  If it's an e-check, it has to clear and that sometimes takes a few days.  If it's from the seller's Paypal funds, the transaction is a bit faster but not instant.
